This thread got me thinking:

How many of you food combine? What were your experiences? Did you notice any significant change in your health and did limiting you food choices affect your ability to stay raw?

Thanks!

I believe foodcombining has quite a big part in gaining and maintain good health. According to what I've read there are it is very important for good digestion (and to avoid fermentation and such things) to try to avoid combining certain things with each other. But I should say im quite new in this area so this may not be of such big significance, im not sure. One of the reasons for not combining certain things with others is that some groups need more time to digest, some less and then that the body uses diffrent acids for diffrent groups

I first read about food combining when the book "Fit for Life" came out back in 1985 by the Diamonds, and I thought is sounded good, although at the time, I was eating SAD and meat and thought it very unrealistic, although I still have it. LOL

It sounded good, but I didn't know one person who was actually doing it, my super hip chiropractor chick who was very much a Calfornia girl, tried it, and couldn't do it, and I thought if SHE couldn't do it, then no one can. LOL

anyway, the theory sounds good, I do think it makes sense, and I do eat most of my fruit in the morning, but I have heard time and again, that it only really matters if you are eating cooked foods or meat.

I haven't noticed any difference if I eat only fruit, or fruit with veggies, or fruits and nuts or anything like that.

Now , maybe I am in denial, but that is what appears to be working in my body, maybe if I food combined and didn't have dates with my almond milk, I would lose weight faster, and that is probably true, because I wouldn't be drinking the almond milk at all without the dates, and if I wasn't drinking the almond milk, I'd probably have a pretty hard time staying raw, as I really love it and I drink them at least once a day.

So, for ME, and me only, not for anyone else, not for YOU, just for ME!!!
I will just do what I do and not worry about food combining, 8/1/1 or counting calories, or carbs or anything else that may cause even more obsessing about food in my life.

I'm 100% raw, and I prefer to stay that way, nice and easy, one day at a time, no worries, no stress,no anxiety, no counting, no measuring, no fuss, no muss.

The only time I don't food combine is if I eat a raw treat. Which is seldom but all in all when I food combine properly and lean more towards mono eating I feel EXCELLENT. :)

I always follow food combining rules and usually feel better when doing so.

I am a definite believer in food combining. Food combining is simple and is as natural as living raw. It is simply about understanding accepting the natural order of things in my opinion. It does not require calorie counting or living in a way that is anal or rigid...for me, it is simply about understanding why food combinations may or may not be good for human comsumption. I try to be aware of how my food is combined at least 95 -100% of the time. What can be challenging are certain raw dishes and other fruit and veggie combinations that my friends eat; I just try to focus on moderation.

It is undoubtedly a good thing to food combine. But then again, one shouldnt be too hard on oneself If one would not follow those rules. I will follow the rules in general but not in every detail. (but as I said im quite new with eating raw)

I eat according to food combining rules except when eating "gourmet" raw. I use a simpler guide than the one given in many books and at Optimum Health Institute and other healing centers, though; I don't worry about combining different types of fruit, for example. I began combining foods correctly before I went raw, so it wasn't unfamiliar -- though, when I first went raw I didn't worry about the combinations in many of the "transitional" dishes. I just concentrated on eating raw.

i find that my digestion is better when i combine properly. the exception seems to be for blended foods. for example, if i eat a dried fruit and nut trail mix, i feel heavy and bloated, but if i soak and blend them into a fruit and nut porridge, no problem. i figure the soaking is part of the fix, but the blending is important -- probably bc it gives the body a good start at breaking down the food (most of us don't chew nearly enough!). i notice the difference, too, between complex salads vs blended soups. so it's when i eat my solid foods (75 - 80%) that i pay attention to the combining principles -- so far, so good :)
many blessings to all!

I lost 60 + lbs with food combing and never put it back on ...and that's when I was eating SAD foods.

I'll never NOT combine for the most part
Blended and gourmet are the only time I don't.

I am exactly this way.

The only way I can keep my digestive system in good order is to practice proper food combining and mono eating.

can you give me an idea of the simpler guide you use?

Fruit in the AM.
Otherwise, I don't even think about it.
Too complicated pour moi.
Unfortunately no nuts nor seeds, no matter how, when, where or with what, I just can't digest them at all. I have always have trouble with them and I just decided that it's not worth the struggle with nuts and seeds anymore and I feel so much better. So lots of dates, bananas, mangoes, etc.
100% RAW always and keep it simple - works for me.

Thanks.

I guess I am not really understanding the question. Do you mean combine more than one food? Combine more than one food group? Eat mono? As a rule I don't combine fruit with veggies (with some exceptions). But outside of that, my smoothies are made of 3-4 different fruit. I eat usually 2 (or more) different fruit together as a meal.

Peace.

90-99% of the time for me.
