I went to a couple tag sales with my mom today and was soo surprised to find a brand new 5 tray excaliber dehydrator for $15!!!! The goddess was really watching out for me today :). I convinced my mom to let me get it (with my own money) and I just had to share!! I'm so excited :) I almost feel unworthy of this compared to many of you here.
I can't wait to make something!! Any favorite recipes you want to share?

Wow and can I find a tag sale like that?! Although I'm not sure what a tag sale is? Garage sale? But, wow what a deal! I'd love for an Excalibur to fall in my lap like that! ;)
Great find it was destined to be yours that's for sure!

a tag sale is another name for a garage sale :)
And yes, It was the most wonderful thing, I saw it and like stopped breathing lol.
I wanted to start making things right away! But the only thing I had all the ingredients for was corn chips. I'll have them with avocado or something tomorrow if they come out. Of course, I don't have celtic sea salt (and found out too late I didn't have any onion either) so I don't know how they'll turn out.
I can't wait to make the crepes for my family and have them try it! Do you think I could make the inside with a different nut/seed? I only have pine nuts and pumpkin seeds. hmm
ah sorry I got very off topic! I tend to do that a lot...
thanks for the suggestions RP :)

The crepe filling uses macademia nuts and cashews, right? I imagine that pine nuts should work fairly well, although the filling won't be quite as rich. I wouldn't recommend pumpkin seeds, though.

You can make some corn chips to have with guacamole and some raw pizza. Maybe if you make food like this, your mom will see it as "real" food.

Spectratrix, thanks I was thinking of just substuting the pine nuts...I didn't think the pumpkin seeds would be a good idea though either
ElainaThiemann- yes thats what i was thinking as well. I am happy eating mostly simple foods, in their natural state. I don't know why, maybe it's laziness (although I sure hope not), But i see a banana and just want the banana. Sure, I love banana ice cream...but usually I'd rather just grab the banana and eat it. I don't know why. Of course, I would like to spice it up with some gourmet recipes as well because they are fun and you can be creative and they really do taste and look delicious. Plus, you are so right, it my mom sees me eating a pie for dinner instead of a big salad (even though it has nuts and sprouts and things) she may become more comfortable and satisfied. *hopes*
