View Full Version : Did you prepare or did you just jump in to the 30 day raw challenge?

I've been working up to my 30 day challenge. Right now, I'm eating a cooked vegan diet with no sugar or caffeine and eating about 50-75% raw. I am wondering if there are folks out there who "prepared" themselves for the 100% raw challenge (by starting out vegan first) or are there folks who just "jumped" in from a SAD? Also, did anyone do a juice fast before starting the 30 days raw?

p.s. I start May 1st and will post and journal then!

I jumped. My preparation consisted of eating every bad food I could find so that I wouldn't miss it later. This is not a tactic I would recommend. I think the question of whether to just jump in or prepare first has a lot to do with your personality. I'm sure there are people on both sides that swear by the way they did. I tend to be an all or nothing person.

Hi Sosiesmom!

The first thing I did was lurk on the board for 4 months. During that time I read most all of the post and made the banana search my best raw friend. Then I because I am overly obese and was an emotional eater I knew that I would need a prep first, so I opted for the Master Cleanse. I did this because I knew from personal experience that I could tolerate it. I liked the taste of it and I knew that it would stop my cravings and hold off my hunger.

I highlighted was an emotional eater here because I am no longer one. After I finished the MC in 15 days I continued to eat completely raw. It has been 6 months now.

What is missing in my story and sometimes many others is that it really doesn't matter if you prep or not. No amount of prepping is going to get you through it if your attitude about it is not complete and committed. You should also have a passion about it and enjoy it!!

Happy Journey!! :)

Tombi, I apprecite you mentioning that you lurked for a while first. I did too .. off and on for a year!

I as well went for the 10 Day Master Cleanse, and also knew that cleansing/fasting works well with my body. I was actually expecting to be nauseated on day 2 or 3, but none occured.

I think your body will tell ya what to do. The most important thing is that you are making the choice that you want: to eat a diet of raw foods. Ramp up, or jump in .. either way, in a month you'll have developed habits of preparing and eating raw foods.

It's all good.

This is going to sound weird, but I had a friend tell me about a site www.shazzie.com one night. I sat there reading about her journey for 5 hours straight. I was hooked. The very next day I started trying to be 100% raw. Over the next month I would learn that some of the stuff I thought was raw...wasn't. :o But I kept trying. I found this talk forum and I just keep trying to learn. I finally removed raw dairy from my diet 2 weeks ago...and so, I guess for the most part...it just feels right for me. It's not work like I guess it should be. Weird, I know, but my body responds so well to being fed raw, that anything else would not be living to my full potential. ;) Long story short...I jumped right in without a net! :p
