All this time I THOUGHT I was 100% raw, but there's always something that really isn't raw. This is driving me crazy, trying to figure out whether nuts, seeds, dried fruit, oil, unhulled vs. hulled grains, etc. are all raw or not.
But I figure, so avoid dried fruit. No big loss there. Nuts - I can buy in the shell to be safe. Right? Oils I can avoid and just use avocado. And when you think about it, there are PLENTY of seeds right there inside your fruit! So you get fresh, raw seeds in your diet without trying and without paying extra.
But then again... I just remembered, if something sprouts, then it's living. So I'll have to test-run all my pantry items. Question: Do walnuts and pecans (and all nuts) sprout, even if they're out of the shell?
What are your thoughts on this issue (making sure things are raw) without having to call each individual company in hopes that they'd even tell the truth??

Your title says it....."it's not worth it if it drives you crazy!" There are many people on this list and certified raw food chefs that use oils, etc. You know what you like.....just find the healthiest choice (buy from Alissa's store or other raw and natural stores). Raw is not fun if you have to be militant. At least that's my opinion! Why can't you have dried fruits? If you dry them yourself they still have living enzymes. That's the whole point of raw foodism. Putting living enzymes into your body to replenish your cells.

I agree. Don't stress over it so much. Read labels, surely, and keep asking questions until you find the answers you seek. You can choose cold-pressed unrefined oils and they are raw. If the label on nuts say it's raw, then that should be good enough for you. If you feel it is untrustworthy for whatever reason, then just don't eat it.
There are also several threads here you can look up that discuss raw statement on products. That should help some too.
Stress is as much a toxin as a poison you might drink. Don't let yourself fall prey to that creature. You don't need it.
Best wishes,

yes - fun is the first thing! i heard jeremy saffron say once something like he was 99% raw, 100% intentionally raw - so you can choose to just accept that you may once in a while have the odd cooked nut, unintentionally. you decide what is raw for you.

You are right, IT IS not worth it if it drives you crazy.
SO, DON'T BE CRAZY.
just eat fresh fruits and veggies, and do the best you can to find to find nuts and oils that are raw, but DON"T be crazy about it.

If it's making you crazy, it's the crazy, not the food that's toxic! LOL
There is a belief in Eastern spiritual thinking that says that the wrong action for the right intention is far, far better energetically, than the right action for the wrong intention. So if your intention is to be 100% raw, you can't go wrong even if..........!
Love it all!

I sort of look at raw like...live and learn. Everytime I eat something...that I question...is it raw or isn't it??? I usually find out the hard way...I have a reaction to it and know for next time. I wasn't trying to stray from 100% raw, but if it happens as no fault of my own...then I just know for next time. SO, now when I try something that could be questionable...I try a very small amount. :)
