Alissa's apple pie recipe

Made Alissa's apple pie recipe tonight. The filling got great reviews but we (there were three of us: me, DH, and our friend Andy) weren't as crazy about the crust with the sunflower seeds. I was thinking that walnuts might taste better. It seems to me that apples and walnuts go together well in lots of recipes (raw and non-raw alike), so it seems like a more natural pairing than apples and sunflower seeds. Anyone tried this, or another variation?

I have made it with walnuts and like it that way. Also have made it with an almond and date crust but have decided my favourite is just the apple with maybe a sprinkle of crushed nuts over it.

yes, i used walnuts instead as i had no sunflower seeds and it was really nice. my hubby really likes it :)
