I have no idea....where do you get coconut milk. The only time I've seen it is in cans. If I buy a whole coconut??? I'm confused about milk vs. water, or are they the same, I would think not, but I don't know where you get milk?? Do I have to make it like nut milk?? Thanks for the help. I've been high raw - 100% for how many months now, and STILL I'm coconut illiterate!!

You must scrape the meat out of an old coconut. Then take a pot with a strainer over it and grab some of the coconut mean in one hand a pour hot water over it. Squeeze the meat over the strainer. Repeat this till all the "milk" has been extracted from the meat.
Coconut milk is the process described above. Coconut water... not sure where you heard that.

Coconut water is what is inside the young coconuts.

You could try it. I've never heard of anyone doing this. But then again, I've never made fresh coconut milk till I moved to Thailand. Nobody has blenders here, so it's not an option. And well, more high tech than those I'm living amongst.
:D
Went to a Vietnamese Restaurant last night for our pre-gig victuals with the band. I ordered raw broccili, salad and coconut juice. It's the first time I've ever had coconut juice. OH MY DAWG! It was delicious. I loved it! If you haven't tried it - please treat yourself.

That's what I do sometimes. Or sometimes I just add an ice cube or two, blend the whole thing and call it a coconut smoothie. (I also call that dinner frequently :))

Hey, great! I just looked at the sight for opening the young coconut! I thought the white part WAS the meat.....of course I've never bought one before, so I just assumed the white part was like the white part in a brown coconut! DUMB, huh! Now that I've seen the video, I REALLY feel like this is something I could do, AND $1 is not too much to spend on the water and the meat....and the milk! Knowing what I know now about the benefits of the water, I'm going to give it a try. If I'm right, I've heard that coconut (water) is beneficial for fighting candida??? Is that right? I need this!!

Yes, that's exactly how we do it here in Brazil. You can do lots of different smoothies with it. Yum! :D

Coconut water - the water / juice inside of the young coconut
Coconut Milk - the water of the young coconut blended with the meat of the young coconut...................and of course there is that yucky cooked stuff in a can as well but you don't want that!!!!
Hope this clears it up for you!

Be careful out there folks!
"Keith Richards was flown to a New Zealand hospital last week after reportedly falling from a palm tree in Fiji while vacationing. Fellow Rolling Stones guitarist Ron Wood also was said to be up the tree; Australian and New Zealand newspapers reported the pair was reaching for coconuts.

Well thank God I only have to reach to the grocery shelf to get mine :D OK, so one more question to clear things up for me. Do you blend all the water and meat to make milk, or am I looking to blend just enough to make "a milk", should it be thick? Sorry I'm so dense... I'll get it eventually! I thank you from the bottom of my heart...looking forward to my coconuts!!!

O.K. Here is what I do.

I do not strain it though. I just blend the meat and juice and it taste kind of like milk but sweeter. It is great. I personally wouldn't strain it because the meat is really good for you. Just blend it and drink like a shake or glass of milk. That is how they serve it at Ecopolitan a raw vegan restaraunt here in Minneapolis.

I think coconut milk is what comes out of mature coconuts. If you haven't tried a young coconut yet they're absolutely delicious!! & The best place to purchase them is at asian markets:)
