Hello,

I wonder if anyone has any good combination with broccoli in it to get it a little more tasty. At the moment during a healing phase im not using spices or herbs so I need some combination with other veggies. I have failed so far to combine it without having a tasteless green soup. Any suggestions?

If you have a dehydrator and Alissa's book, you have to try the Broccoli and Cheese recipe. It is amazing and softens the broccoli. I am not a huge fan of raw broccoli yet, so dehydrating it makes it taste like the steamed broccoli taste I am used to.

Here is my favorite:

First I make my marinade:

Olive Oil
Fresh minced garlic - adjust to your personal preferences
Crushed Red Pepper

Typically you should let the marinade set for at least a few hours. I just make large quantities at a time to I have it on hand:

Pour the oil over your broccoli. If you can wait, more the better. I usually use a zip lock bag to help cover the oil on all the broccoli. (You can add some grape tomatoes if you want more color)

Yummmmm

I love the flavors blended together - just don't breath on anyone else.

Do you have a juicer? I juiced broccoli and apple a couple of days ago and it was DELICIOUS. I couldn't believe it. I could go for some right now but I don't have any broccoli left. You would be getting a ton of broccoli nutrients/enzymes/vitamins instantly in your system.

I like to put the cut up broccoli pieces in a lidded container with the juice of a fresh lemon or two. Let set for a couple of days, shaken every so often. Tenderizes and pretty tasty too. No salt or spices needed.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions!

Unfortunatly, at this time, I should avoid spices and oils and all those stuff but broccolijuice seems like an excellent idea. I haven't got my juicer yet but I ordered it some week ago so it should be delivered quite soon and then I make some delicious juices. With the other recepies I'll just have to wait a little.

Today I did this:

Put a lot of broccoli in food processor with 3 baby carrots and whizzed until it was small grains. It was still dry not wet. The carrots weren't at all visible.
Added a couple of handfuls of sea vegetables (a bag of mixed sea salad). Whizzed more, until both the broccoli and the sea veg were fine.
Squeezed in some lemon juice, added 1 avocado and whizzed. It was lovely.

Are you avoiding avocado? I hope not, raw fat is vital when you're detoxing, as it binds with toxins and escorts them out of the body. It's also needed when you're healing to lubricate your cells.

Hello Bobbie,

Sound like a delicious mix. Unfortunatly I'll have to avoid both lemon and avocado for now. I know that avocado has alot of good fats in it but in this case it is kind of a boweldisorder and therefore I must avoid everything that may irritate it. So today I made an easy combination of cucumber, broccoli and some kind of root. Although it didnt taste very much it was the best combination with broccoli I've done so far.

Sea vegetables are seaweeds. Dulse and kelp, nori (as in the japanese sheets), Wakame, Kombu (the last 3 are popular in japanese foods)

Seaweeds are foods which are incredibly rich in nutrients. I have been told that when we worry about the run off of nutrients from the soil we should start eating seeweeds because that is where all the nutrients go.

My favorite way to eat broccoli ---

Chop broccoli (small, medium, your choice)
Chop or grate carrots (or use chopped apples instead)
Chop little onion (your choice of color)
Add equal amounts of raisens and sunflower seed (or preferred nut)

Mix well, using roughly twice the amount of broccoli as carrot or apple.

For dressing I blend (in blender) one peeled orange, about 2 Tablespoons of olive oil and about 2 tablespoons of honey. Pour over, let sit for a bit, overnight is fine, but then, so is 15 minutes.

We love this and if I use enough seeds or nuts, I call it dinner at least one night a week.

You could also add cerlery, cauliflower, etc. Hope you like!
