Hi!

What do you guys use to make things taste like chocolate? I have some raw carob but it doens't taste chocolatey to me.
Is dutch cocoa from the health food store ok?
What do you use and where do you git it from?

Thanks!!

Raw carob from Whole Foods. I do believe dutch cocoa is not raw and contains caffeine. Don't know the product so don't know for sure yet, if it doesn't say "Raw"...

:) Well a little while ago someone posted a raw chocolate recipe that I totally have to give them kudos for. I split the quantity of carob/cacao 50/50 and added a little more agave b/c of the slight bitterness of the cacao. THe carob was Alissa's, which is wonderful and the cacao was home ground nibs in an espresso machine. It is wonderful, totally gives me my chocolate fix- I'm in a photo class and they bring in boxes of krispy kremes for breakfast, so I've been chowing down on choc for breakfast, but don't even feel guilty! I also experimented with adding hazelnuts which was really good, and peppermint oil which didn't turn out (maybe my extract or because I left in the freezer much longer than the first time?) BTW Alissa's coconut butter is awesome, but get two if you like chocolate. :)

Ok Thanks!

So where do you get the nibs?
What are they called?

Thanks again!

Hi Missionarymamato5,

They're just called cacao nibs, and you can buy it in a powder too, but the store was out. I order them from rawfood.com shipping is a bit much to me, but I think most raw on-line stores carry them (I'm hoping Alissa may too one day).
