Hi, I'm making Alissa's Fudge Balls and the recipe says the dates should be pitted and soaked. Does anyone know how long I should soak the dates?
Thanks

I usually soak dates for only about 20-30 minutes in slightly warm water.

If your dates are soft, you don't really need to soak them. Soaking is to make the dates softer and so they'll blend creamier. Sometimes, especially in a pinch, I'll just run them under some hot water and they soften up! But to answer your question after that "long walk around the bush" - probably about a couple of hours or so if they're not soft already.

I agree with Rawkinlocs,
I only soak dates if they are old and kind of dried up, if they are fresh and new I don't soak.
