Buying bulk grains & nuts

Are hulled seeds and grains raw? Is pearled barley raw?

It seems like in order to get all those hulls off, and also shells of nuts and small seeds... wouldn't there have to be some heated machinery involved??

Does anyone know?

Also raisins... are those sun-dried or cooked?

I'm not sure if pearled barley is raw, but it is living, because I sprouted some the other day. I bought some hulless barley the other day, which I assumed was the same thing as hulled barley, since it looked very different from the pearl barley. It doesn't take very long at all to sprout-- yesterday I soaked it at lunch, rinsed at dinner, and had sprouted barley this morning to put with almond milk, cinnamon, and raisins. I'm intrigued to find out what people know about raisins.
