I made these up tonight after having a handful of walnuts and a handful of dried cranberries for a snack. The tastes just go so well together. :)

Cranberry Walnut Candy

1 1/2 c. walnuts
1 c. dried cranberries
pinch or two of salt

Whirl in food processor until smooth. Roll into balls and store in fridge. Can also roll in shredded dried coconut. Beautiful!

I have to confess: I make RP's fudge balls so much that this is a take on it. Walnuts plus some sticky sweet fruit go so well together. :D

Enjoy!

Hmm! Normally I don't like cranberries, might have to try this.

Oh, I bet that would be great,

I like
almonds and apricots
walnuts and date
hazelnuts and raisins
cashews and apricots

they just go well together, but my favorite is indeed the walnuts and dates, but I will have to try this one of yours.

thanks for sharing.

This sounds good but where do you find cranberries that aren't sweetened? All of the ones I've seen have sugar in them.

I've also only found dried cranberries (and blueberries) that are sweetened with sugar. I'd love to find a source to buy both of these if anyone knows of any.

The cranberries I find are at a Farmer's Market bagged by the family. Sorry. I know that's no help to you. Maybe make your own in the dehydrator?
They are yummy. I love the sweet/tart flavor of the cranberries. :p

RP: I LOVE your other fruit combination ideas!!!! You're right though. It's hard to beat walnuts and dates. I guess you've tried stuffing the dates with walnuts and just eating them as a snack? It's SO good.

Cinnamon,

I found some apple juice sweetened dried cranberries at my HFS. Little pricier, but very good. Am definately going to try the recipe as I don't see myself shaking my sweet tooth anytime soon. hehe.
