Soaking Nuts

Ok this may be a really silly question. When we soak the nuts to release the enzyme inhibitors does that go into the water or just by eexposing the nut to water it releases this? Is the water then bad?

The water should be discarded and the nuts should get a follow up rinse to remove any remaining.

The nuts swell up so couldn't the enzyme inhibitors be absorbed again if this was the case?

you toss the water, as it does have the enzyme inhibitors in it, you also rinse rinse rinse until the water runs clear, while soaking, I rinse every 4 hours or so.
