DOES ANYONE OUT THERE HAVE A GOOD RESOURCE FOR BULK/DISCOUNTED NUTS? THE MACADAMIA AND PINE NUTS ARE THE ONES I'D REALLY LIKE TO FIND A GOOD RESOURCE FOR. I KNOW THEY'RE EXPENSIVE REGARDLESS OF WHERE YOU BUY THEM..... JUST WONDERED IF ANYONE HAD HAPPENED UPON A DEAL!!

I get mine through Trader Joes mostly- but they are not cheap- and I wouldn't say it is bulk either. There is a place called Hadley's here in CA that carries tons of nuts and dried fruit- here is the link to the nut section of their site:

http://www.hadleyfruitorchards.com/hadleys/showprod.cfm?&DID=6&CATID=13&ObjectGroup_ID=3

They do have pine nuts, but it is only a 7 oz bag for $7.59- They do have RAW almonds but I didn't see Macadamia...

Hope this is helpful! :D

i just went to whole foods and some places have the raw mac nuts for like 13.79lb but other whole foods don't carry the raw ones, that is why i ordered from truefoodsmarket.com, you pay for shipping but they are 12 something a pound and i get the raw carob powder from there as well

I came here hoping someone had a good answer to this, but I guess not. Seems like an opportunity for someone on the east coast to offer bulk nuts. I don't recommend truefoodsmarket for bulk nuts because they only offer 1 lb quantities. hadleyfruitorchards also does not have bulk. bulkfoods does not have raw Macadamias.

All of these companies are in California:
If you don't care about whether they are organic or not, http://www.nutsite.com/ has lots of nuts in bulk quantities.

http://www.livingtreecommunity.com has shelled organic nuts in 5 lb quantities.

http://www.rawfood.com has in-shell organic Macadamias in 20lb quantities, but no pine nuts. They also have truly raw cashews.

Hope this helps

Thanks, Waken, for the info!! You know, my local Wild Oats store has every kind of nut in bulk- even pine nuts- other than macadamias! They say that their supplier has stopped distributing them. Some kind of shortage, maybe???? Anyway, I'm anxious to try some of the "cream" sauces I've seen recipes for, and they all use mac nuts. They are expensive, even in bulk, but, hey, I'm not buying tofu and fritos anymore, so I can splurge!!

Thanks again!

Sharon

Hey Sharon,

I got the same story - well, actually, it's supposedly a world-wide shortage.

So everyone, my question is ... is there another nut we can substitute until the supply of macadamias is replenished???

I just bought some raw macadamia and raw pine nuts at Central Market. I do believe this is a franchise, so thought I'd put the name out there for you to look for near you.

Blessings~
