Soaking Flax?

I read in Jeremy Saffron's book that I should be soaking my flax seed. I use Bob's Red Mill stone ground flax and I think soaking it would just make it goopy. Are you supposed to soak ground flax?

I soak flax seeds if I am making something like flax crackers but just grind the seeds (dry) for flax meal and do not soak it. Not sure what the rules for this are, but I've not heard of soaking flax meal.

flax seeds Usually, depending on the recipe.

If it does not say soak, then don't at least that is what I do with recipes.
