I'm on day 18 of a juice fast. I went on it after eating some really awful cooked food. At first, I missed that stuff - sandwiches, pizza, Mexican food. Then I started to crave more complex raw meals - coleslaw with mock mayonnaise, avocado/walnut tacos in cabbage leaves, lasagne, hummus, flax crackers, etc. After that I was craving marinated kale with bell peppers, red onions, avocado, zucchini and mushrooms as well as green smoothies with bananas and frozen fruit. Today I found myself fantasizing about a big salad with 1 (or 2!) heads of romaine, some carrots, cucumber or zucchini, red onion and celery. I'm still craving an oil-heavy dressing though. It's interesting to me that as I get rid of more and more Bad Stuff, my body wants simpler things. Mexican food still does sound good but thinking about it I can literally feel how dehydrated all of the salt would make me. I know that soon I'll be craving individual fruits and vegetables without fat, without salt. That's when it'll be really hard - My body will be telling me to eat exactly what is good for it and I'll have to keep telling it "No!".
