How the heck do ya NOT EAT??? It's such a primal urge that I'm really struggling with it. My body is set to a certain schedule. It's breakfast time and I want breakfast, kwim? I can drink juice, but my body, or is it my mind, is not satisfied. I need help deciving my body/mind to get to day 3 or 4 when I'm not hungry anymore.

Purl,

Hi! The first few days can be really tough because, as you said, you are just so used to eating. It is dificult at fisrt to not eat because you have been diong it all your life and to suddenly not eat is very unnatural. However you can get over that hump. I am on day 23 fasting. Now it is not as difficult for me as it was in the beginning because I have been doing it for so long.
I recommend drinking a lot. The first few days I carried around a bottle of water at all times and drank and drank and drank. Any time I felt hungry I would drink some more. Also the first few days I did not sit down with my family at meal times. I would fix their dinner (or whatever) and then I would go off and do something else in the house that needed to be done. I played outside with the children a lot so that I was out of the house and away from food, and took long walks with them.(This was when we were having a warm spell). Now I am fine sitting down with them while they eat and I drink. The longer you go the less difficult it becomes. At least for me anyways.
I think another important thing is to have a set goal. A set amount of time that you will be fasting. This is important to me because if I just stopped when I felt like it I never would have made it this long. I am doing 30 days.
I hope this helps a little. The first few days can be really tough but once you get through them it does become much easier and you will be so glad that you made it through.
Good luck! :)

I had orginally planned to go 14 days, but after reading Miss Linda's very informative post I think 30 days would be better. I just cannot IMAGINE going that long....working on keeping my head in the game right now is a challenge with all the dc home from school this week!

I know, 30 days seems like forever when you are talking about not eating any food! Just take it one ady at a time. After 10 days I remeber telling myhusband, "I don't know if I can do this for 30 days!" He told me to go for 15 (the halfway point) and see how I felt then. Well I made it to 15, and then 16,17, and 18 flew by and before I knew it I was at 20! Wow! Also once you get to the point where you have been fasting longer than how many days you have left, (for instance I have been fasting for 23 days and only have 1 week to go) it becomes much easier too.
I really wish you the best. You sound just like a dear friend of mine who is also struggling to get healthy.
All the best!
By the way I know what you mean about the dc. I have 5 at home all the time. Life is never dull!
