Hello everyone....

I just thought of a very helpful tip I wish someone had told me when I first went raw, so I'm sharing it with y'all in hopes of sparing someone else the 'grief' I went through (BTW, this may be common knowledge, but it is quite an epiphany for me!)

When trying new raw recipes, cut the recipe by HALF (or a third, or a quarter, depending on how sharp your math skills are...lol...) That way, you don't waste food if you don't like the taste! I can't tell you how many times I have wasted a ton of great and EXPENSIVE ingredients only to discover that the recipe was disgusting. ;) This is especially helpful if you are the only raw fooder in your family (or if you are single).

Cheers,
VeggieGirl

That's a wonderful idea. I am not new to raw exactly, but up until now I have basically eaten salads, mono meals of fruits/veggies, or nuts, without too much experimentation. I am eager to try the recipes on this site, so your idea is very welcome. I so hate to waste money or food!

I learned that lesson the hard way too- I threw out a dish that used 2 cups of macadamia nuts! YIKES- I still haven't finacially recovered! :D

I appreciate that. I have found it very frustrating to make recipes only to throw them out. Good advice!

Have a wonderfully raw day~

Excellent advice VeggieGirl! Yeah, I found out the hard way too. Fortunately for me, it wasn't as painful as Feelin'good experience. I'm so sorry for you.

That's a great tip and we do that too.

It also helps to have a dog, lol. Our dog Ruby has been the recipient of many dehydrated bloopers. It saves on cooked dog biscuits too.

Thanks much for the tip. My husband even suggested it to me the other day. I made the chili recipe which was very good, but decided I didn't want it anymore and after hubby ate it twice, there was still some left, so out it went. Usually I dehydrate stuff that is left over, but that sometimes does not get eaten either. Anyone else got tips - I think it is a good thread to start, but I don't know where to put it.
