View Full Version : Newbie searching for salad utopia

Hello everyone,

Happy Easter! I am ready to launch into my 30-day raw program. My only worry, is that although I have always loved salads, if I am to up the greens ante, how will I survive without good dressings? I don't like a lot of the commercial low-fat or "Annie" varieties. :eek: If everything I eat is raw, am I untrue to the challenge by eating Catalina, Zesty Italian, etc.?

Also, I am a "big mama" and need to eat a lot to feel full. I have been 60% raw for a month. On two occasions my desire for a serious feast of chicken or steak was overwhelming. I felt anxiety until I finished a hefty KFC fix. (Even the small pets I sat for were nervous around me.) What do you do when you have cut out the bread, dairy and pasta, and an apple just doesn't fill the void?

I've lost 15 pounds so far, and feel it's time to do this thing right. I have been a constant lurker on this site. My evil ways have been exposed. Advice is welcome. Thanks!

hi gtr , welcome to alissas site . im not sure if you know but you can go to top of page search icon and punch in any topic and search for threads that you want , say like filling meals and also salad dressings would bring you right to alot of reading on the topics . goodday :)

Welcome, I just had a delish filling Easter dinner of pineapple cuke gazpacho, salad with lemon, nama shoya & olive oil for the dressing, "meatlaof-Alissa's recipe, mashed taters-Alissa's recipe-although I used some almond milk instead of water, stuffing & smothered with mushroom gravy. ( a few alterations on the gravy.) I really believe that we can have VERY satisfying foods w/out KFC..

the key is to experiemnt. Find out what your craving & go after something that will satisfy it. No-not everything tastes like the "original" SAD version...ask my husband...LOL..But it's actually better. You won't have that I have to take a nap feeling after a "hearty " meal like when eating SAD...BTW...that means Standard American Diet.

as far as the dressings go-there are no Raw Police going to hunt you down if you use them-but you won't get the FULL effects of Raw-so I would try & search some recipes & read the site & make some fun stuff. Good luck. hope this helps..

Thank you for your suggestions. I guess I'll have to make some of my own concoctions. I just wanted to still be "legit" on the 30-day challenge, despite the dressings I use.

This is a salad dressing that Schall Adams gave me and it is great.
1/2C olive oil
1/2C namashoya
1/3C lemon juice
1/3C apple cider vinegar
6 Tablespoons of tahini
2 garlic cloves
Blend in the vitamix

Marinate cut onions and mushrooms in this and pour over your lettuce with advocado. This dressing is so addicting. Let me know what you think. I am having this for dinner and I have almost eaten all the musrooms and onions

NOPE bottled dressings are NOT raw, so you can make some really good ones with olive oil and a little lemon juice and some spices.
