Hello All!
I'm new to this board, and I have a question. Why do we lose weight when we eat a raw diet? Is it because we automatically eat less calories? Or because of the way the raw food assimilates into our system? I ask because I eat SEVERAL bananas a day (I love Alissa's approach - just eat raw but I tend to follow Dr. Graham's high fruit 811 raw vegan) and I still lose weight. I don't count calories, I just eat whatever fruit I feel like. I know that bananas especially have a high number of calories so I don't understand why I continue to lose weight (even when I eat 15 per day)? I mean, I'm happy that I am losing weight, but I just wonder why? When our whole lives we're told to count calories, points, etc. It's so nice to not have to do that anymore! Does anyone know why this is? Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts.

A lot of extraw weight people have are accumlated toxins and just overall waste inside. Raw foods allows the body to lose the "false fat" Also, yes, it is assimilated much better in the body and you may be consuming less calories (depends how many you had on cooked vs raw). I don't know much more than that, perhaps maybe others will come behind me and explain :)

I lost about 14 lbs within the first 2 months of going raw and was begining to panic a little about it. I have gained 2 of those back even though I am eating more or less the same so it definatly has nothing to do with calories.
