Almonds

this might be a dumb question but does any one know why almonds are so expensive.... i live in MD and for raw organic almonds are $10 a pound and the roasted kind is $6 doesn't make any sence to me.. :confused: .. thanks

all I know is that they were about $3.00 per pound for several years, and then al of a sudden they doubled in price

Weather conditions meant the almond harvest this last year was tiny... fear of shortage drove the price up. Cross your fingers it goes down next year!

They have a bulletin posted at my NFS about the Almond Crop. I scanned it quickly it was about weather, shipping prices increase too.

The Raw Organic are 16.00 pd because the Supplier had a whole batch of bulk that went rancid from moisture and had to be reclaimed by the Supplier (South America I think ?)

I have to say, lucky you!! Where I am they are $16 a pound for organic and $11 a lb for conventional. $10 sounds so nice...
