All,

Ugggh, my Ktec Champ HP3 blender did not power on last week and is being repaired by Ktec under warranty (it's only 8 months old). Anyone have any experiences with Ktec's service?

Anyway, I'm thinking about buying a second blender, the Vitamix 5000, just to see how it compares to the Ktec. Might be overkill to have a second blender but I sure could've used it this week and next while my Ktec is serviced.

Any thoughts on if it is worthwhile to have two powerful blenders?

I welcome your input.

Thanks,
Gil

I have been a distributor for K-Tech, mostly grinders. So I have used the blender and some of their other products. I replaced my mixer/blender with a Kitchen-Aid and Vitamix - which I like much better. I kept having problems wth the motor on the blender. K-Tech was always great to work with and had a quick turn around time on repairs, but I felt that their products were lacking in power and dependibility, hence the Vitamix along with other new toys.(I gave my K-Tech blender and mixer to one of my daughters) To be fair to K-Tech though it has been about 6 years ago that I made the switch.

I also had a problem intially with my K-tec blender. It was pretty new and the unit just stopped working. Their warranty was wonderful though and I got a brand new blender!!!

I am really happy with mine.

I love my vitamix... no problems yet and I hope there are none!

I've had my Vita Mix for around 9 years, no challenges, I LOVE it,

I've often thought of getting a second container so I could do more than one thing at time, so if you wanted two blenders, I say, "go for it."

my mom bought a vitamix and we used it for awhile hen returned it and got a ktec. i think i like the vitamix better because it could make super thick smoothies (the way i like them). w/ the ktec u have to add more water. i like the vitamix carafe design, things dont get stuck in the corners. i still love my ktec though. i say two blenders is a good idea :) wish i could afford that

I've also used both. The K-Tec just doesn't seem to make the smoothies nearly as smooth as Vitamix. I make a mock mocha using brazil nuts, water, cocao nibs, cinnamon, banana, agave, etc. and the K-Tec took quite awhile to blend and was really just not as smooth.

I did use a K-Tec at a small cafe in Portland area a couple years back and it did seem to do great frozed fruit smoothies. This was pre-Vitamix days.

I agree with RP, if you can--have both.
