View Full Version : Dehydrating Alissa's Carrot Cake Question?

Yes, I was curious on how long and what tempature people would dehydrate her carrot cake for? How long did you dehydrate it?
Plus, I love her carrot cake icing recipe, but I was wanting a icing that was a little thicker and creamier. Anyone know of any raw ingredients that can give it that cream cheese flavor. I was thinking about putting lemon juice insted of orange juice, to give it that yummy lemon flav.
Any ideas? I was at a regular grocery store last night and saw a SAD carrot cake. Gotta make a raw one today now! :)

Lemon and cashews totally works for a cream cheese flavour!!! I do that all the time. Just sweeten with whatever you like best!

I do mine on 105 - 109 degrees. My mind is blank on how long! I just kept on checking it every few hours.... maybe somewhere around 8 hours or more. It'll be good just as long as you can move it around like a cooked cake layer, though my hubby likes it wetter/moist than I do. I actually like it to be a little bit more dehydrated and then with the icing soaked in for a bit to soften it up. You may find your dehydrating time may be totally different.
I double the amount of walnuts though, so I don't know if that would affect the dehydrating time and I also dehydrate it into one flat layer and later on cut it up into smaller squares to stack with icing in between.
