another mc question - sorry!!

When you do the laxative tea at night - do you ALSO do an enema? I'm wondering especially since I have such difficulty "eliminating" that most laxative anythings don't do anything for me! but is it safe to do both - AND the salt water flush in the morning??

My advice is amateur, but I don't see why not do both when you need to unclog the pipes! ;)

 I wonder if you should even be doing the MC what kind of health history do you have that you can't even eliminate with those herbs? how long have you been hard to push?

well i've had trouble for 10+ years...and i'm only 25...imagine! anyway, the thing is, laxatives DO work I guess, but not too well...i've been on a bunch of prescription laxatives and they always work at first, but after a week they lose their effect. and lots of them don't work to begin with. even natural ones...there is this one laxative tea that works okay, but same thing - the first time i take it - i'm in the bathroom the next morning! but if i keep it up...i take it and i finally use the bathroom 3 days later.

but as far as not doing the cleanse - i still think i'm going to try it. i know i don't know nearly as much as others on this place - but the thing is - for 10 years i've been going to dr.'s - and all different kinds of dr.'s - all different kinds of tests - everything is always "fine" - i just get handed a prescription. so i'm fed up to say the least. i am trying raw and i really need to cleanse obviously...i just feel like i have nothing to lose. nothing else works, you know? but any advice is greatly appreciated!!

Dang, I'm sorry to hear that but truly there is HOPE! Boy, if you have been on Rx laxatives and such for that long, you msut definately be interally dehydrated on a deeper level and flora is SHOT.

What kind of health issues like food allergies that lead to consitpation???? Any pelvic area issues?

Wow that's alot of work on your system. If you do the tea at night I wouldn't do the enema in the morning because your intestine will already be sore from the laxative that was digesting through your system as you were sleeping. Plus it depends on what was in the tea laxaitive. And how your body responds to it. Also how long have you been RAW? Do you have any type od candida yeast problems which could be the reason that you have consitpation problems? How much flora doyou have in your stomach? What have you been eating for the last week to possibly cause this need for laxaitive?

I know that Brenda Cobb suggest an enema every day, with a 2 oz wheatgrass implant, she swears by this, but to me enemas, or colonics are simply not natural, I'm sure that there are times when a person really needs to clean out the gunk in their colon, but I don't do them and so it's not something I am real familiear with.

However, it just doesn't seem natural, My mom used to say, that if you use laxatives and enemas, then soon you will NEED them, and I agree, I have a BM at least 3 times a day, and it is easy and comfortable, but when I was SAD it was maybe once a week, hard and difficult, I could feel it coming on for days before hand.

and when I went raw, it took a few weeks, but I am regular and feel really good.

I wish you comfort in your elimination.

I agree with you MissLinda. And I can't figure out for the life of me why anyone doing RAW would need a laxative at all?

If you are eating raw and drinking PLENTY of water, then I'd say a person might be addicted to laxatives if they are still constipated, and for me, I'd be trying to get off of them.

Rowan, apprarently the OP has a 10 year history of being constipated and body had become dependant of them.

I hate that feeling of not being able to go. I remember I would get the sensation but nothing.

I know of people that have done enemas for so long they can't go unless they do. Our bodies adjust to what we regularly. Enemas and colonics on occasion might be warranted, however taking over a normal function of the body daily just can't be healthy.

I haven't ever had a challenge in this area, and I really feel for people that do.

I've heard that many people are chronically dehydrated and this impacts constipation greatly. More water might be good.

What's your diet like?

Cheers,
Sheryl

Ahhh.....but I like em'.

Although if you eat to many banana's and walnuts at one time, it will plug you up. It doesn't matter how much water and lemons and ginger you consume, until it passes your pluged.

oops...i guess i didn't explain myself too clearly. First of all, I'm TRYING to be raw - i have good weeks and bad weeks...but i'm not 100% - not nearly! Although i know I need to be...so I'm trying to fast to help w/the pain I experience every time I try to go 100% raw...so much pain cause so much roughage...

and, I'm not remotely addicted to laxatives OR enemas - i'm sure I would be if they actually WORKED!! lol...but for me, i've never had success, so it's been a few years since i've taken any type of laxative (and whenever I did they were only prescription, and changed every few weeks cause they never worked!) I have tried one tea that someone reccomended, but all it did was give me diahrrea one time, and that's it. BIG help. So i have NO faith or hope in those things!!

and see, the thing is, ALL dr.'s have said, it's fine to be on laxatives to rest of your life!! yeah right - that's why, around 3 yrs. ago - i gave up with them...and now i'm trying raw. but i guess i have years of constipation that is' really hard to heal.

i supposedly was allergic to corn products and dairy growing up, so i did stay away from those foods...and as far as I know I have no pelvic issues. i've had tons of scans. tests, etc...and everything is always "normal"

SO WHO KNOWS?!!! Now, here's something GROSS to add to all my allready rediculous issues! I started the MC yesterday - i went ahead and did an enema tues. night to prepare - but just the water came back out. great. story of my life! Those supposedly fabulous things don't work for me! however yesterday i started the cleanse, and felt pretty fine the whole day - going one time (iguess due to the salt water flush) but it wasn't much.

HOWEVER, today, i used a bit more salt, as suggested if the regular dosage doesn't work, and i've been "leaking" all day...how awful is that? and what in the world? why is that happening? I can't just go to the bathroom like a normal person!!! i'm just leaking...i don't know how else to describe it. does anyone have any clue WHY? and if it's ok? i don't want to stop this - I NEED help for my insides!!!

oh and real quick before I end this BOOK i've just written!!...you mentioned flora miss linda, so how do you suggest i put flora back in? ( don't know too much about this stuff!) THANKS!!! :p

oh, and path, i didn't answer all your questions...i have no idea about the candida or flora issues!! I've read about them, but don't know for myself...and as far as eating for the past week - i've been completely off raw for about 3 weeks now - but even when i was faithful for a while, i still wasn't remotely regular...so i guess i got frustrated and went off (which of course was the wrong decision  ) but i'm hoping a cleanse might help clear me out so my body can properly digest & eliminate again (or atleast start to heal so those things can eventually happen) So in otherwords, I'm ALWAYS constipated. going "alot" for me is every 3 days. but i'm normally no more than 1x a week, and mostly like it's more like 2x a month. and i'm SO ready to be clean & healthy...and FREE.

Use probiotics! That will help to add flora in your stomach and will eat up all the junk inside the intestines!!! Get the Jarro-Dophilus with FOS. FOS helps to reproduce the beneficial bacteria. I take 3 pills at night right before going to sleep, next day in the morning the elimination process begins. No pain, No fuss! :)

p.s. LMK if it works for you! :)

The whole 'forced elimination' mentality of all these experts many people seem to look up to is nothing more than a desire to have an effect that feels like you're 'doing' something.
The digestive tract is really 'outside' of the body. Elimination in the physiological sense, takes place inside of the body and by organs filtering the blood and lymph.
One is not a mechanical device like a plumbing structure and a can of drain cleaner, but it's hard for many in the health field to shake the analogy.
Rest and sleep are the most important activities you can provide for increased fecal elimination aside from a diet that does not interfer with supplying suficient water and fiber.
I know most popular health advocates in the 'alternative' approach will not agree with this, it's just so much fun to 'help' things along.
You can not force healthy function.

I am a strong believer in enemas. I do not do them everyday only when I am doing a cleanse. That is what they are for cleansing and there is nothing not natural about it especially in our world. We are faced with sooo many toxins even if we do eat raw in the air, soil, and so on. There is no way any of our bodies are 100% pure, so enema are a great way of making sure things stay cleaned out. I also think colonics are wonderful
