Is there anything that can be substituted for nutritional yeast?

I try to stay away from products that aren't raw, but find nutritional yeast called for in lots of recipes. What do folks here use for a substitute?

thanks!

Is there anything that can be substituted for nutritional yeast? If you don't want to use it. leave it out. I do use it regularly, but if I'm out of it, I do without.

You might try ground pine nuts. They are so soft and moist though that you may want to soak and then dehydrate them first, then grind. Since some use just such a method for "Raw Parmesan" I figure it would be a good sub for the nutritional yeast too!

ahhhh - Pine nuts. Thanks Michelle, I'll try that -- there are a couple of recipes I wanted to do today that don't have a lot of ingredients, and the yeast seems to be a big part of it, so didn't want to leave it out.

But yes, Shivananda, just not adding it is definitely an option in most cases. I think my brain is still in jetlag, cause I just came up completely blank today.

Thanks you guys!
