Hi
I'm new at all this, raw and especially the raw recipe creation, and I just finished making what I must say is a SUPREMELY delicious fudgey-thing. :D I've got a few questions about it. Here's what I did...
In my cheap little food processor I ground up about 1/2 cup walnuts and a few spoons of flaxmeal for a loooooong time to get a fine crumby texture.
I added another 1/2 cup walnuts that had been soaked about 5 minutes along with probably 3/4 or 1 cup of organic raisins. Again, after an extended period of loud food processor-ing, I got a clump of stuff.
I dumped in maybe 2/3 cup or a little less of finely ground up cacao nibs (which I bought at the health food store for an OUTRAGEOUS sum!!! But which I've decided are worth it!) Also I put in a little cinnamon.
THIS. IS. REALLY. YUMMY! I am so proud of my concoction and it actually tastes really good. I'm a little concerned that I will eat it all! I already ate a big lump which tasted so good except now is sitting in a big lump in my stomach. Oooops. ;)
My question is this. After the prolonged processing in that really loud appliance of mine, it was really ooozing oil. Where is this coming from? The walnuts? Are they that oily? Forming the mixture into little pieces my hands were immediately covered in a thin oil slick. Ewww. At least I know it's essentially healthy since I know exactly what went in there :)
Any thoughts? Thanks.
Loving this board. Loving raw. Just gotta find a substitute for refried beans and cooked potatoes now that the chocolate base is covered!
