I need to use my rutabega to make ravioli soon. Is it ok to freeze the ravioli and then freeze the sauce seperately?

By freezing these things, will it compromise their intregity?

I make a big bunch of the raviolies, and freeze, when you do, put plastic wrap onver each layer, or they will stick to each other, I then pull out individual raviolies, and put on a plate, top with sauce, and dehydrate to warm, mmmmmmm

I do not freeze the sauce, as I eat it constantly on everything, marinara is my favorite sauce.

I freeze many many things, fruit, crackers, sprouted nuts and seeds. Even green drinks ! soups too. I like to uncook in batches and immediately freeze for quick meals on the go..and travel too.

YEP, Rawfigure, I do the same,

I like to go into my freezer and decide what to eat,
burgers
raviolies
pesto stuffed mushrooms
pesto stuffed squash
enchiladas
fruit roll ups
cashew fudge
truffles
my chocolate decadance ice cream mmmmmmmmmmmm
vanilla decadance ice cream
salsa
egg rolls
spring rolls
corn chips
pizza shells
frozen mini pizzas (a new item, I just came up with) mmmmmmmmmm
pizza rolls
these are just a few of the many frozen thingies in my freezer at any given time,

plus I keep all my nuts and grains in there too

I have two fridges and one entire freezer, full of goodies, I don't like to be limited in any way

So glad to hear about this. I was wondering and hoped it would be ok to do so. I have been thinking of doing some major uncooking when I get a new job and the money is coming in regular again. Makes the idea of buying in bulk a bit more safe to do as I worried things would go bad to fast. Now I just need some more trays for my dehydrator.

Path 301, it's on it's way, LOL

Rawfigure,

there are a few that I use, but these work well for me

I use either
Alissa's pizza wrap as a crust, I make her recipe, then make them into rounds about 6" (that is a good size-but you can make them smaller or bigger, your choice), then I dehydrate, then I toss into the freezer in a zip lock baggie,

or you can use the onion bread, which stays moister, and makes an excellent softer crust

or you can use her burger buns, for a more cripsy crust, but my favorite is the pizza wrap

then I top with the marinara sauce, (I add double the spices, and the sundried tomatoes)

these are my favorite toppings.
pesto stuffed mushrooms, chopped, or cut up
fresh mushrooms (sliced)
sun dried tomaotes
fresh basil leaves
pineapple,
pecan sausage (I think Alissa has a mushroom sausage that is good)
nacho cheese (in Alissa's book)
black olives (sun dried)
meatloaf (Alissa's I make them into burger shapes, then crumble)
pretty much anything you like.

about the only thing you can't add before freezing is the fresh basil, it gets black, but then it does kind of in the dehydrator too

then after I have one of these made, (I usually make about 8 or so of them)
then I place them in the freezer to set, then I put them into zip lock gallon freezer bags, then out to the big freezer,

thsi way, I have a bunch of instant meals,

I just pop somthing into the dehydrator, then it's ready in about 20 to 30 minutes,

I also have lots of great food on hand for company, in case I choose to share.

Plus, any time Dragggon wants, he can make me dinner, now THAT is thinking ahead, I would never deprive him of making a wonderful surprise for me. LOL

let me know how you like them.

PS, the pizza wraps are also excellent for tacos, tortiallas, enchiladas, taco salads, falafels, etc, I love spice, mmmmmmmmmmm

Rawpriestess,

Can I have the pecan sausage recipe? Or was that also in Alissa's book? I'm getting ready to make italian sausage now. Need to go work on it. HOpe it's good.

I am reviewing some old posts on freezing food, as I recently learned that dates are often frozen after picking to kill bugs. Does anyone know how it affects the enzymes and overall "healthiness" of the food?

Freezing is a great way to preserve a fresh food w/o losing quality. If you freeze green drink, freeze ASAP.

As far as losing the Life of the food freezing consider the frozen sperm....it still creates a Life at a later date.... :D

I'd also love to see the pecan sausage recipe, providing it has no wheatberries in it like in Alissa's book!
