Hi all- I just wanted to pass this along because it looks like it will be pretty cool. I have both of these books and it is very interesting- The Indigo Children and The Care and Feeding of Indigo Children. Basicly it is a movie about these children that have a special gift- this is from the site:

"We are all the Children of Light, and we offer ourselves to the greater service of humanity, knowing that Peace Prevails on Earth through each one of us. We thank the spiritual masters that we know as our children for having the courage to come to the planet at this time to offer their gifts, knowing that we are one with them. As we focus on this oneness, the Light increases and we initiate a world of compassion and peace. Together with the children we SEE the world as healed, and we allow this vision to take root all around us. Bless the children who have come to lead us into the new world."

On January 29th & 30th, AMC theaters, and churches around the country will be having a special premier for this movie- If you are interested in seeing it, go to the site below and click on Churches to find a local one showing the film. The AMC's are almost all sold out already-

If you haven't seen 'What Dreams May Come', check it out. You have to pay attention to what he is saying and to the background. I really loved it. I have heard it is hard to understand, but you have to listen. Even my husband and my stepdaughter loved the movie, and they usually only like movies like Meet the Fockers and White Chicks.

"Pee-Wee's Big Adventure"

A very touching story about the multi-faceted and complex relationship of a child-like man and his bicycle. It may take a few viewings to understand the breadth of emotions explored in this film. Bring your tissues.

Aha - I'm not the only one who loves Pee-wee's Big Adventure AND gets that it's a spiritual movie! Thanks Autumn.

I also absolutely love "What Dream's May Come". When I saw it in the theatre ( a very long time ago, now!), the people I saw it with just didn't get why I kept crying, but I was really moved by it.

My absolute favorite movie of all time is "It's a Wonderful Life". The old Jimmy Stewart Christmas favorite. . .but it moves me every time.

And while some may not think that "What the Bleep do you Know?" is a spritual movie, it certainly opened up my mind to looking at spirituality in even more ways. . .

Great topic - that's for starting it!

Well, since Pee-Wee has already been voted for, I'll have to add "The Adventures of Pricilla, Queen of the Desert". If you've not seen this hilarious flick about Aussie drag queens and like cheesy 70s disco music like I do, this is a MUST-rent. And it does have spiritual themes to me...not necessarily about the hereafter, but about the here-now, self-respect and the meaning of love. Hmmm...may have to pull it off the shelf for another viewing.

"Pay It Forward"
"Longtime Companion"
"Jesus Christ, Superstar" (the 70s film) (didn't care for "The Passion")
"Schindler's List"

I'll have to check back here for some picks for this weekend's movie night. :)

I Heart Huckabees. Basically about "existential investigators" and the meaning of life. Wonderful, funny, touching movie! Oh, Ghost Dog: Way of the Samurai. Not what you'd think by the title, but a good movie about survival and urban spirituality.

o man, i just watched a film recently called "The Story of the Weeping Camel". It's actually a documentary of Mongolian nomadic life, but told like a story. This film will touch you like no other, don't know when it'll be released on DVD but book it now!!!

Hiya Sweetgoddess!

I love introducing people to new stuff, so no problem! It's nice to know that you found it to be cool! Really interesting idea though huh? Makes you wonder why something like it isn't more widespread. I found out about the Spiritual Cinema Group when I was living in Ashland, OR. Stephen Simon, the founder of the entire thing moved there and promoted it and that's how I was introduced. The movies are one of a kind, most of which you'd only find at film festivals. So yeah joining is really worth it!

Aye Ekko! Have you seen Indigo or What The Beep?

just found this thread...

ok my number one spiritual movie is the matrix ( the first one - not the other two....ack )

ok - If you look at it from the view of

the dream of the planet is the collective dream that everyone knows but no one talks about and that this dream is the only way. ( which is the big lie )

like: you won't get enough protein without eating meat....

Neo is waking up from the dream of the planet and realizes that he can do anything if he has faith that he is Neo.

We too can wake up and realize that the dream we've been dreaming is all stories we tell ourselves ( even down to our names ) and what other people tell us about who we are - who we should be - how we should act - and what we need to do in order to be good.

It's all about awareness and waking up.

don't bother with the other two - they were horrible.

Some movies I like that have strong spiritual undertones:

Whale Rider

The Piano

The Truman Show

I loved Whale Rider and the Piano! Great picks. I'm glad y'all see the spiritual side of the Matrix as well...I tried s'plainin' it and no one around me could see it!

~Little Buddah

~Dead Man with Johnny Depp

~The Last Temptation of Christ (it may have ticked some people off because they didn't watch it to the end, but the music is amazing and I thought it was a beautiful msg...though shown the possible life He could have had, and despite being tempted by the beautiful childlike angel, Lucifer, He chooses the cross)

~The Lives of Others. While not a spiritual movie per se....it really touched on the the kindness of strangers.

~Ghandi-Obviously about his life

~Amelie - Random kindness brings true love

without a doubt:

Water (Deepa Mehta)
Earth
Fire
The Hours (shows the choices we must all make and how that choice effects others)
Baraka - one of my all time favourite movies - the depth in this movie is awe inspiring.

Some of these may be more philosophical than spiritual.

End of the Spear
Secondhand Lions
The Last Sin Eater
Copying Beethoven
Neverwas
What The Bleep Do We Know
The Celestine Prophecy
Peaceful Warrior

Everyone needs to see End of the Spear (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0399862/). It's possibly one of the best movies ever made, and it's based on a true story.
