Okay, I made the fettuchinni alfredo last night was really good. I tried the Mock Salmon Pate and yuck it's sweet.
I was really hoping it was close to the real thing. I love salmon so much. But, I have never cared for sweets other than fruit in any shape or size.
Hope Hubby likes it. That's what matters

I made the mock salmon pate last weekend with my husband. It wasn't sweet at all, did you follow alissa's recipe?

I'm not sure what you put in it to make it sweet, but the Mock Salmon Pate recipe that I have from Alissa's book isn't sweet at all. That's weird.
I really loved it!

Yes, except I just realized I used cashews instead of walnuts. Hubby can't eat walnuts. do you think that could have caused it.

it's a possiblity, walnut have a very bitter taste, if you eat them plane, where cashews are quite sweet, I would think that might be it.
You may wish to add some more spice and anything tart, like lemon or vinegar, to see if it cuts the sweet, also do NOT add more salt, as salt brings out the sweetness in foods.

Can your husband eat pecans? I've substituted for that many times and it still comes out yummy.

Yes he can eat pecans. I guess that I will have to try that. He has a sweet tooth maybe he won't notice.

Add a little lemon juice to it...just a squeeze or two and maybe a little black pepper.
If you are seeking a "fishy" taste to it, I believe it is the walnuts that lend a hint of that...maybe add some kind of sea vegetable to it.
When I make it, I also add in (after blending) chopped onions, celery and red bell peppers for more texture.
Yeah, cashews probably weren't the best replacement choice...almonds may have been better.
