... should try the recipe in Alissa's book for that uses sprouted and dehydrated buckwheat.
Mixed with nut milk (I've tried hazelnut milk becuase I don't care for almond milk) and fresh/dried fruit - YUMMY!!!!!

Here's a raw porridge recipe I came up with:
Flax seeds, stone ground
Dates, pitted (to taste)
Figs (to taste)
Cinnamon (to taste)
Vanilla (to taste)
Juice of 1 orange
Water to thin (as needed)
Soak dates in orange juice. Reserve liquid. Chop all fruits and add to flax seeds with orange juice, vanilla and cinnimon. Blend well, adding water until it reaches desired consistancy.

Here is a recipe for one of the best granolas I have ever eaten. It tastes so good in any nut milk of choice. It takes some preparation but it is well worth it.
Soak the following nuts and seeds in one bowl for four hours or overnight:
(I usually don't time anything so I soak them overnight).
1/2 cup sunflower
2 cups almonds
3 cups pecans
1 cup pumpkin
Drain the nuts and seeds and pulse chop in a food processor until you get coarse chunks. You may have to do this in two stages if your processor is small. Transfer to a large mixing bowl and set aside.
1 apple cored and chopped
1 1/2 cups dates, soaked and drained
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons orange zest (optional) if you don't have it
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 teaspoons sea salt
In a food processor grind above ingredients until completely smooth. Pour over chopped nuts and mix until thoroughly combined. Spread mixture on Teflex sheets about 1/2 inch thick. You may need a few sheets. Dehydrate at 105 degrees overnight or until crunchy. Break into pieces and store in a tightly sealed container. Enjoy with your favorite nut milk on a Saturday morning and watch your favorite cartoons! I swear this granola is that good!

Our "cereal" is :
chopped apple
bananas sliced
one or two other fruits of choice, blue berries and/or strawberries
goji berries
crushed nuts, usually almonds
nut milk
my family....kids included here..... NEVER missed those boxed "foods" we use to call cereal. NEVER.

Are buckwheat groats the same thing as the buckwheat called for in recipes?

i think so. at least, I use the same ones that I use in recipes. I just soak, sprout, dehydrate, top with fruit and nut milk and eat :) I've found that adding sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds when you add the fruit and milk makes it an even yummier combination.
