Tiff here are a couple of sites for you to check out:

http://www.fromsadtoraw.com/index.htm - specifically check out Michelle's journey. She lost a ton of weight eating 'high raw'.

http://rawblog.blogspot.com/2003_11_01_rawblog_archive.html - this is part of a journal with a few pics. She lost tons of weight doing raw (size 20 to 8 in a year)

http://associate.com/groups/healthseeker/read/? - This is her newsletter.

Basically, the more juicy fruits, salads, juices and smoothies you eat, the quicker your weightloss. The more nuts, fats and dense foods you eat the slower your weightloss. Excercise, water and additional fiber will speed it up as well.

All the best to you.

Hi tiffaraw,

welcome to this board :)

I have lost about 45 pounds now, being on raw and high raw for about 6 months. I have to add that I didn't do such a great job staying raw the last couple of weeks, it has been hard with the holidays and all. So basically you could say I lost about 40 pounds in 4,5 months... looks good ey? Of course, this all depends on the person (constitution), excercise, food intake, etc... but don't worry, you WILL lose weight, just start by adding more raw stuff and slowly letting other stuff go like meat or dairy...

Best of luck!

I have lost 7 pounds. Now that might not sound like a lot, but for me it is huge. I am not able to lose weight has I am extremely hypothyroid unmong other reasons. So this has been spectacularly exciting for me. Give it a try.

BTW my starting wt was 198.

Best of luck and health to you

Define raw vs high raw please??

Jay

you can eat 100% raw, which means everything you eat is raw, the olive oil, the dehydrated stuff etc, all raw.
But you can also eat 'high raw' which means that you eat a little bit cooked or like the dressing to your salad is from a store and not raw, or you like some bread or rice or potatoes occasionally, or you still eat steamed veggies... is't just a way to say you eat most of your things raw, but some of the things you eat aren't entirely raw...

People define raw and high raw in different ways. It is based on taking a certain amount of calories or meals raw in their daily diet. Michelle's definition of high raw may be different from someone else's so she might be the best person to answer your question!

I've lost 90 pounds. I went from 210 to 120. I've been raw for 6.5 months.
All raw. No cheating, no nothing. I'm not sure about the keeping of denser fatty foods out of the diet for faster weightloss. I didn't concern myself with that as this diet was so drastically different from what I was eating. I figured anything I ate in the fruit veggie nut seed sprout family was going to be better than a hamburger and fries!!!!! I lost weight really quickly the first two months especially. I've been keeping my eye on the "I want to be vibrantly healthy!" prize and steered away from being too concerned just about the weightloss. I look more now at the balance of foods I eat. But that was (would have been) way too much for me then.
You can do it!!!!

I just wanted to say you inspire me. I weigh about 200 now and I once was that nice low weight. Currently I am so frustrated, none of my clothes fit except for a couple skirts with the elastic waist and a pair black pants that I hope no one will think Im wearing over and over again.
I can't wait to be thin again. I want to be heathy and become that personal trainer I wanted to be.
I also need to quit smoking - Im going through so much stress and stuff its been hard to get back to raw.
My problem is flavor and smells and not feeling I have enough time to do what I need to do.

In 2003 I went from 155 or so, to 124 or so in about 4 months on all raw. Didn't worry about fat or calories at the time, as I was eating about an entire mature coconut  per day in addition to other food.

Well ladies I really haven't weighted myself except recently for my journal,(which reminds me need to post my weight there and get up a recent pic.) In the last 3 months or so eating 80 to 90% raw went from a 42 size waist down to a 38 and these pants are getting loose to. :) I have added daily exercise and my weight loss is about 4 to 5 lbs per month, which is fine for me.

yanni, how did you do it? are you 100% raw? did you cut down on nuts and dairy?

yani
01-14-2005, 07:22 PM
Hey lynn-
yes, I went 100%. I didn't cut down on anything except cooked foods. I figured getting that out of my life was enough to start with. After awhile i figured my body would let me know what it needed to feel balanced, and that is exactly what has happened. I didn't like nuts at the beginning, I must say. I have learned to love all of them except macademia nuts. Ugh.
I just can't stand em, and don't like anything made with them. But I love me some avocado. Yum!!!!!!!!!!!! I like olives too, but have only had them once cause they are so expensive, ordered em from rawfood.com.
But I eat ALOT of veggies. Fruit in the am and veggies the rest of the day.
AT the beginning I ate fruit before bed too, it helped me stay away from chips and popcorn!
Yeah raw fooders!

I keep reading about how everyone on the Raw diet is losing weight. I am not losing anything. I seem to be staying the same and even gaining slightly. I just want to lose about 20 pounds. I weigh about 138 and would like to get to my norm which is 118. What is everyone doing that I a not doing?

Hey Sasha,

can you explain us a bit what did you eat before starting with raw, and how does your daily intake of food look like now?
How tall are you?
