I tried making the recipe stated in the subject, and it started good, but soon I had sunflower "butter" coming out the coffee grinder, and it's was just really backing up with it all. Anyone else have this problem? Did I do something incorrectly???

Sandra, I have never heard of that-you must have processed them too long...I'd use the sunflower butter for something else & start over.

OR..did you soak & then not dehydrate the seeds- I usually make the refrieds w/out soaking.

Try to just "wiz" up-until they are "dusty" looking.

lanasq is right, the sunflower seeds need to be dry, with nothing added.

Plus, I'd say a cup is too much to do at one time for best results with many coffee grinders, so I'd split it in 2 batches. The contents should be free to whiz around the cup.

And butternut is one of the hard squashes. That's normal, and that's why they last a long time in storage.

i always end up with butter when grinding nuts. UNLESS, i take them straight out of the freezer.

btw, this is my 100th post :D
