I want to do a fast soon and I have never done one before. I am just starting my raw eating. I feel very good about starting to treat my body right. Does anyone have any suggestions on a good first fast? I want to do this. Thanks, Lois

Hi Lois,

There are several cleanses, I would suggest doing whichever one you feel drawn too or feels right to you.....juicing or the master cleanse is good.

I would suggest the OJ fast. Drinking nothin' but orange juice for two weeks! I only lasted 10 days, but it was my longest fast! and orange juice is sooo delicious. and if you get tired of just plain oj, you can mix some tangerine or grapefruit juice in there too! mmmmm

I like the lemon cleanse. It is also called the master cleanse.

You use
fresh lemon juice
water
cayenne pepper
raw agave (or raw honey if not opposed to it)

This cleanse breaks up mucous in the body, eliminates toxins and congestion.

I started out by doing once a week 24-hour mini-fasts. For example, Friday night my dinner was a juice then Saturday morning I had another juice (fresh squeezed organic fruits, never ever bottled and if you use oranges make sure you juice the white pith beneath the rind. The rind is indigestible so discard that.) 24 hours will have elapsed between your lunch on Friday and your lunch the following day and you'll have slept through most of your fast!

Also, my first big fast was the Lemonade Fast. Pure water, lemon juice and organic maple syrup. I got it from a Seasonal Detox book. I was able to do it for ten days. My body eliminated feces for ten days even though I wasn't eating anything solid!
