Experienced rawist,

I have been 100% raw since last Fri. and I am weaker by the day. I drug myself through work yesterday so pyhsically weak I don't know how I made it through. I go to work in 2 1/2 hours from now am I am wiped out! I slept almost 10 hrs!! My brain is alert but my body feels like its going to just shut down. Coming down stairs to our office I felt like I would fall, my legs are very shaky and I feel like my body's buzzing or vibrating? I am eating lots of fresh fruit, raw almonds and walnuts, spinach and romaine salads with olive oil and lemon, raisins, and drinking lots of carrot juice and pure water. Am I doing the right things? I don't want to go back to cooked!! Are canned olives raw? I have some but haven't eaten any.......zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz,OH,
I'm sorry, I fell asleep! Hee Hee!! Help!!!!!!

This is just my opinion so please take it as that. I feel you are detoxing way faster than your body can handle. If it were me I would stick a potato in the microwave and eat it plain. It is better than feeling the way you do and will slow the detox down some

Flutterfly,

Thanks for your response! If a micro potato will help, I'll eat it. I know it will get better. Thanks again!!

Maybe eat a potato to slow down the detox but don't microwave it - that's adding insult to injury.

I've also heard brown rice is good for that.

Cheers,

It sounds like you are eating great, but are you eating enough? Are you getting enough calories into you for enough energy? I know many people here don't like talking about caloric intake, but it's a fact of life that you require a certain amount to actually function properly and if you aren't getting enough, especially when you start going raw, to make up for all the cooked foods and keep you satisfied while you are getting over you addictions, then you won't be comfortable at all.

Also it wouldn't hurt to go to sleep even earlier. It sounds like your body is doing a lot of repair work from your 10 hours of sleeping.

Hi Jax,

About day 7 or 8 into my All Raw, I started getting the weak legs and light headness. I increased my caloric intake and that is what helped me.

But like the others said, it could be you're detoxing and the only way to slow it down is to add a "little" cooked foods , steamed veggies, maybe.

Flutterfly, you are always so full of great info and I look forward to your posts (never found one of yours that I questioned.....until now). I just want to share this article with you and everyone else about microwaves. Once I read this, I weaned off of using my microwave to where I haven't used it in probably 3 or 4 months now and never will again, although my family still uses it:

http://www.healthfree.com/paa0001.htm

Here is a small portion of the very long article:

Ten Reasons to Throw out your Microwave Oven

From the conclusions of the Swiss, Russian and German scientific clinical studies, we can no longer ignore the microwave oven sitting in our kitchens. Based on this research, we will conclude this article with the following:

"1). Continually eating food processed from a microwave oven causes long term - permanent - brain damage by "shorting out" electrical impulses in the brain [de-polarizing or de-magnetizing the brain tissue].

2). The human body cannot metabolize [break down] the unknown by-products created in microwaved food.

3). Male and female hormone production is shut down and/or altered by continually eating microwaved foods.

4). The effects of microwaved food by-products are residual [long term, permanent] within the human body.

5). Minerals, vitamins, and nutrients of all microwaved food is reduced or altered so that the human body gets little or no benefit, or the human body absorbs altered compounds that cannot be broken down.

6). The minerals in vegetables are altered into cancerous free radicals when cooked in microwave ovens.

7). Microwaved foods cause stomach and intestinal cancerous growths [tumors]. This may explain the rapidly increased rate of colon cancer in America.

8). The prolonged eating of microwaved foods causes cancerous cells to increase in human blood.

9). Continual ingestion of microwaved food causes immune system deficiencies through lymph gland and blood serum alterations.

10). Eating microwaved food causes loss of memory, concentration, emotional instability, and a decrease of intelligence.

Have you tossed out your microwave oven yet?"

That's EXACTLY what happened to me! I had some unraw stuff and bam! I was gold.

I can't help you, just relating. I'm trying to go back to raw; this time, more calories, I think, are in order.

Many people make the mistake of limiting their intake while attempting to go raw. This can be painful as is evident with our friend Jax. I ate as much as I wanted. I ate until I was full at first. When it came to fruit, I even overate. My body regulated itself in time and I never felt the detox with the intensity that Jax appears to have.

Jax my friend, you need to eat alot more. As the others have said, if you want to slow down the detox, steamed veggies with brown rice is a good choice.

If you would like to break thru the cooked addiction "cold turkey", then eat alot of fruit. I mean ALOT. At least 12 pieces or more each day. Thats what I did.

Peace.

The things you describe sound an awful lot like rapid spikes and drops in your sugar levels. Carrots are a "disaccharide" a double sugar. Notorious for spikes and drops in your blood sugar level. I'd recommend cutting the carrot juice. Switch to something else.

Also, you'll really want to make a meal. If you want to stick to it. Get creative. Marinate a portobello and soak some almonds and walnuts. Then toss all that in the blender with a TON of fresh garlic and fresh cilantro. Make a sloppy joe out of it. Yum Yum!! You can dehydrate it and have a regular burger, but it's too tasty. I never make it to the dehydrator with this blend.

If that's too much then just slap the marinated shroom between two bowled cabbage leaves (your bun) with some sliced avocado and have a muchroom burger...

Increase the number of really sustaining things you eat. Lettuce is not very sustaining. Plus, lots of leafy greens may give you gas and you'll lose friend. Nyuck nyuck... I love avocado with chile, lime and sea salt. Very sustaining!!!

Get creative!!

MaxMarie, we are on the same page. The symptoms you described Jax are those of either a diabetic ( I am a diabetic) or a person experinceing hypoglycemia both have the same symptoms especially, the body buzzing and vibrating and MaxMarie is right - cut the carrot juice - one glass in the a.m. is fine, but lots and lots and lots can jam your system and give you exactly what you have now.

I would suggest that you also soak some oat groats and add fresh fruit to it for some substantialness to your diet. Right now you may be sensitive to concentrated sugars such as the dried fruits and excessive carrot juice, so watch that as try your body a little at a time, once you get pas this phase. Best wishes to you.

Also Max Marie - thanks for recipe - I ws trying to figure out what to do for today! Yeah!

Hi, I usually use extra virgin cold pressed olive oil and nama shoyu (nama means raw - shoyu=soy sauce.) with some garlic and herbage as well. You have to crush the herbs in a mortar and pestal to release the flavor.

The shrooms absorb a lot of the moisture and get really REALLY tender. The longer you soak, the more tender the "patty." The down side is, when you bite - they squish. So I usually have to use a sandwhich "diaper." I have a few cotton kitchen cloths for this purpose. Same thing if you make it sloppy joe style with almonds, walnuts, etc... SQUISH!

I agree with the carrot juice--it sounds like you have a blood sugar sensitivity and drinking high sugar juices without the fiber to slow it down, can really throw you for a loop! I have the same issue. I find a big (24 oz. minimum) smoothie in the morning made with a couple bananas, lots of frozen fruit and some water or nut milk starts me off well. At first, you may want to include a handful of nuts in the morning to help slow the release of sugar into your blood stream.

Best health to you Jax!
