It was about my skin and my face and how fantastic they look. And the person who was complimenting me thought I was at least 15 years younger than my 60 years!

Gotta love this thread. Last three attribute to raw--Shocked to learn your age. Had you pegged for closing in on __ (at least 10 years younger than I am). You look so great and lost all your extra weight. Your skin looks so smooth.

Just love to hear, but love to feel better even more!

Gosia, sorry this is off topic but i was curious what does your name mean in the orgin it originates from? :)

Gosia
03-28-2006, 11:14 PM
Gosia is short for Malgorzata ("l" spelled like "w"), which I once read has got something to do with "pearl". (I was born in Poland, and I migrated to Australia in 1994. I still have an accent.)

I recieved a compliment tonight because he said he admired me for wanting to write to all of the huge gigantic polluting, non-sustainable corporations that bought out all the nice good ethical companies and tell them that I won't ever buy their products again because I don't like them anymore and that buying the good companies don't make them look any better, no one is fooled, and that it ruined the good companies to be associated with each other.

That one is not raw related, but I did get complimented on how young I look and when I go off the wagon and cheat a little, like a chocolate covered espresso bean at work, every one gets upset and acts like I just took a spill in the winter olympics or something. I guess that is sort of a compliment because everyone wants to see me stay raw at work.

k :)

This weekend I was at a karate seminar in Texas. Today a lady from NJ e-mailed me (that attended the seminar) and she wrote:

"I kept looking at you and how beautiful you are and saying THAT IS A GRANDMOTHER!@!!"?

A person at the last raw meetup commented that I was the energizer bunny ... go go go. Gotta love it!

also, folks usually don't believe I'm in my 50s either.
Okaaaaay!

levamssg-I'm totally inspired by you! My mom is 56 and she looks about 20 years older than you! And she was voted best looking in High school and she's always looked good for her age!!!!!

Hmm ~~~Recently attributed to RAW well my hubby told me my "behind" is tighter--it IS attributed to raw because I feel less bloated and more confident that I WEAR things that flaunt a bit more ;) :D

And I also compliment myself everyday--does that count???

Two guys I've known for years did a double take when I walked into a Super bowl party and they said "Whoa! What's going on with you? You look like a model!"

(That was after only one month raw.)

They offered to buy us some water from the shop....my buddy interjected and said "No thank you, she only drinks certain types of water." they make you feel so good. btrw, i love your marathon pice!!!!!!!!! ;)

JMD ... How smart you are!
I believe it absolutely counts!! We project what we are feeling and thinking!
When we are feeling wonderfully healthy on RAW, it can't help but show.

I'm in an emaciated phase right now so I haven't received ANY compliments. Last summer though after being raw for several months I got hit on by a teenaged boy at the beach. Plus, a friend of my father's whom I hadn't seen in awhile thought I was my daughter (I don't have a daughter) -- and a friend of my younger brother pegged me at mid-late twenties. I was 40 at the time. :D

This stuff never happened to me before I went raw. Raw really is the fountain of youth.

wow swingbolder...i totally agree with purl

good for you :)

the last compliment i received was from one of my good friends, matt, who came to visit me over here in switzerland last week and asked me "how do you get that..that..::moves both hands in front of face::..that GLOW?"

i was surprised, as i dealt with pretty bad iron deficient anemia the previous year and was used to being pale and "lifeless" so i responded, mouth half-full with dates, with ".....huh?"

he said "that glow. your cheeks. they look alive. and...glowy. i bet it's your dates. it totally looks like a datey glow."

i just smiled :)

proud of my body for taking steps towards wonderful health, and playfully amused by his categorization of something as "totally a datey glow," as if there's something defined as "date glow" for comparison :p

I was at the dog park with my husband, and a friend turned to us and said, "it is the middle of winter and you both look like you've been out in the sun. Have you been on vacation?" We both looked at each other, astonished that anyone noticed our great coloring from green smoothies every morning and all the kale salad. We both attribute it to the greens we eat. I used to use blusher, my husband just used to look grey. Now, we have great color!

The main one I get all the time is how young I look. My kids' friends sometimes mistake me for my daughter and one even said that when they first met me, they thought I was an older sister, but not their mom!

One of the girls that my company share an office with just said to me last week when are you going to stop losing weight you just keep getting skinny.

Last weekend while spending time at my one of my friends house one of her daughters friend who is a Senior in high school was hitting on my and ask me to marry him. Every body's mouth dropped open. I simply stated sorry I'm taken. The MIL of my friend said " she is old enough to be your Ma". The young man just smiled and stated, sorry Ma you just look so good.

I love these stories!!!! You know were all on the right track with compliments like I've read above.

I like the "glow to the face", "looking younger", "color to the skin", "energy", even "your area smelling good from all the fresh raw foods". I just took the wallpaper down in my kitchen and breakfast room and it smells awful (I used fabric softner to remove it). Oh how I can't wait to get it painted and then for the fresh fruits to take over the aroma of the room. The fresh smells of fruits does make a huge difference in how you feel and in turn how you look to others!!!!

I am 42 (43 in May) and I have a son who will be 20 in June. Most people think I'm about 35 - 37 but I think it is a combination of trying to eat the right things (not always succeeding), never having smoked and rarely touching alcohol. When I tell them the age of my son, they are very shocked so it's quite a good feeling for me.

I will get round to adding a picture (avatar) and you can judge for yourselves!!

I'm fairly new to raw so I'm sure this way of eating will help to perpetuate the myth that I'm only a young thing really!!

My kids' friends sometimes mistake me for my daughter and one even said that when they first met me, they thought I was an older sister, but not their mom!

I think that besides the glowing, elastic-looking skin, the other thing that makes raw people look younger is the way we move our bodies. We are less stiff, looser in our joints, we have a spring in our step which young people have, and which a lot of people lose as they get older. It's like instead of being increasingly dragged down by gravity, we are learning to dance with it.

I love that people think I am younger than I really am. My son is always mistaken for my boyfriend or husband! Poor guy, actually he doesn't mind anymore and just says... Yup, that's my MOM!

its been 2 months raw now and 20lbs lost and i have had a couple people notice here and there, but the weight loss must be more pronounced as of late because I have had 3 people come up to me at work today and compliment. :)
