Lately I've been thinking "hmm, when I have children I want them to be raw, homeschooled, ect...." because I don't want them to be exposed to some of society today. Not just food, but drugs, alcohol, ect. I know this isn't reality though. I also know that I'm only 18 and I won't have a child for a while lol.

My thoughts wandered thinking about this board. I see more and more people saying "hi i'm new." I'm sure that the more people that become raw the more likely they will transition or raise their children raw. Does this mean society (your children all grown up) will be healthier or will the majority continue to rise up and become even more unhealthy and the "epidemic" will get worse. I won't even get into how the food industries anger me haha.

What is your opinion?
Also, is there a way to find out the number of people on this board? I'm just curious :p

to see who's online if you are logged on go up to the eggplant (quick link) at the top right of page, and click on 'who's online' And you can also click on member's list to see how many registered members there are.

Who knows for sure what will happen... Certainly, peoples attitudes are shifting daily. With the advent of the Internet and advocacy groups, the word is starting to spread. For example, check out
The Meatrix (http://www.themeatrix.com) and The Meatrix II (http://www.themeatrix2.com)

Also, groups like www.peta.org, PETA (http://www.peta.org) have a far reaching impact.

Also, more and more folks are starting to feel more comfortable speaking out about their healthier diet. It is now COOL to be RAW. Many folks are even announcing their RAW lifestyle via websites. I've visited several wonderful sites from posters on this forum. The more presence RAW gains, the likelihood that it will "stick" for the next generation seems promising. Plus, new research is surfacing that helps promote this healthier lifestyle -- i.e. "The China Study" by T. Colin Campbell.

Anyway, that's my $.02

I'm so glad to hear that people are focusing more and more on their health. Sometimes I try to imagine the world ten years from now and all I see is polluted air, massive buildings mixed in with old run down buildings and garbage all over the place. Also, people bummed out and coughing up lungs slugging through the polluted streets. (So dark). It's sad but thats what I feel like society is heading towards. But then I read these posts and I just hope more people realize what could happen if they don't take action for themselves and for the world! Maybe it will change direction and we can all live in peace and breath fresh air! Wishful thinking..but maybe

There are 3 groups of people.
The people that do not know that what they are eating is bad for them.
The people who know but what they eat is more important than how they feel so they bury their knowledge.
And people like us.
I think that in the future there will be more of the people that know and there has to be a huge percentage of them that will join us but as soon as they do and we become a larger percentage of society then Mc Donnalds and Kraft and the others will hijack our efforts and pretend that it was their idea and we will end up with synthetic raw.

The way I see it, the best thing to do is to be who you are and lead by example.

You can hummm and hawww about society or you can take action by being a good example for those less endowed with the powerful knowledge that we have.

My husband and I have talked about this similiar issue, because we would like to have a child but we aren't sure if we want to bring a child into this world. However, this world is the only world that we can bring a child into at the moment. SO, it is best to have more people that think and eat the way we do.

We have all taken steps to get to where we are. You can't blame others for their current situation. We are all on our path. They will see the light someday :D

the light being
1) it's too late and they've already passed on
or
2) they have become a rawfoodist and have vowed to conquer the world and spread the wonderful joy that is raw food
or
3) they have become a rawfoodist but do not choose to spread the wonderful joy that is raw food but rather keep to themselves and hoard their raw nut tortes
