Hi, I am new. I just introduced myself on the welcome page.

I am starting raw today and my hubby has agreed to go raw with me. I am so excited.

The only problem is that he seems to have allergies to raw nuts. Walnuts are the worst. The allergy makes his throat itch. He also has a slight allergy to mellons, bananas and even strawberries. Not as bad as the nuts but still a little itchy throat, nothing serious.

I just made the Mock Salmon Pate and I used pecans instead of walnuts. He LOVED it but he said that his throat started itching a little bit.

So my question is, would this type of food allergy go away after eating raw for a while? I know that some people with inhalent allergies had them disapear when they went raw.

Any suggestions of what I could do to help this situation. I love nuts and I want to make all the wonderful recepies with them but I want my hubby to be able to enjoy the food as well.

Thanks,
Chanda

My suggestion is to cut out all the allergy provoking foods until he is on 100% raw for a bit and let him detox the cooked SAD food. For me while I was eating cooked (just steamed veggies, brown rice, and some 'lean' protein) I had more allergies pop up that I thought I would NEVER react to. I was getting hives, itchiness, and anaphalaxis (not shock....including the itchy throat, thatls an anaphalaxis symptom with other symptoms, but does NOT mean the shock part, but you have to keep a close eye on it.) After going raw I could then again eat strawberries and oranges without these reactions. Grant it I still can't eat nuts or seeds, but I havn't tried them after I've gone raw...I'm scared to for fear of a reaction. I'll try some in the summer though.

probably.

food allergies usually are fixed by eating raw.

I used to "think" I was allergic to apples, all citrus, lettuce, tomatoes, etc, my throat would itch and swell shut, my ears and eyes would run, super runny nose, massive itching, etc.

once I quit eating dairy, I had no more challenges with the supposedly bad fruits. lol

hard to believe but true.

allow him to eat what he likes and can eat first, then after a few days or a week, try the other foods, like the walnuts and strawberries, and see how he does, I bet there will be a ton of improvement in his symptoms.

Thanks guys!
He is lucky that it is just a mild itching and not anything more serious. I will try to use as few nuts as possible until he has been raw for a bit. Then see how he feels.

Both of us actually went off dairy 2 years ago and that totally cured his seasonal allergies. I try to tell this to other people and they look at me like I am nuts!

When I went off dairy I noticed a huge difference in how I felt. I can't wait to see what going raw will do!!

Thanks,
Chanda

It's like the body is SO toxic and backed up on SAD that it'll start reacting to any or every food, most likely the ones that are GOOD enough. I wonder if htat has to do with detoxing the bad foods?
