Does this have to be done on an empty stomach? I like to eat first thing in the morning... should I wait until the salt water has gone through me?
What benefits have people found from doing such a flush? cool things come out them? :) Not to be graphic...it is my first time and I'm a bit nervous!
Also, what do people think of using psyllium to cleanse? What are your fave cleansers that can be taken orally and do not involve a kit? watermelon? master cleanser? something else?  :o

According to some raw leaders, SALT is poison. FWIW, I'm trying to avoid SALT of any kind and get my salt naturally from vegetables (i.e. celery, etc...).

I'd like to cleanse- I am coming off a LOT of chemicals. I have type I diabetes and grew up eating lots of artificial sweetners. Then as teenager I was involved in a preprofessional ballet compnay and used all sorts of stimulants to keep my weight down. I want to make SURE all this crap is out my body! :p

So you were not fasting? this salt flush was a means of laxative effect for you?

Not fasting- fasting is really dangerous for me with my diabetes. I could cleanse first thing in the morning before nreakfast though.
Laxative has a negative connotation for me. I am interested in the flush for the cleansing benefit, you know?

Ugh, wow, umm, hee hee....oki........that is kinda tricky and here is my take...
Salt flush is VERY powerful in DRAWING everything towards the colon..........it is not cleansing in the sense of pulling toxins from tissues on deep levels like you do in fasting per se. The flush is merely for laxative purposes. I mean grant it --it's mineral content makes it alkalizing but you are not refraining from eating so the effect you're desiring is not quite what's taking place. Keep in mind that you risk messing with the flora in your stoamch when you do the flush  You actually may be doing more harm than good b/c your digestive system/colon has it's own timing. I speak from experience where I started to do what you are doing.......I was not fasting I simple ate raw and used flush in the morning...........I wished I hadn't.
So if you are using this as a means to eliminate bulk and fecal matter, I'm not so sure you're getting the desired resutls.... I mean yes you are removing waste but at the same time it is harsh (as in removing)on the digestive system that is NOT shut down that it would be on a juice fast.
If you didn't use flush, are you able to have bm's on your own?

Oh yeah, can definitley move on my own... :o Just want some additional cleansing. Sounds like salt flush is not such a hot idea. Do you know of any kinds of cleansing I can do without fasting? I could do a fruit fast without messing up my blood sugars. Would this kick my detoxification up a bit? Are there particluar fruits that more cleansing than others? lemons? strawberries? watermelon?
THANK YOU SO MUCH for all your help Misslinda!

If I completely understand you, you want to [concentrate] the detoxification process of old sh*t from you body.
((((Raw foods)))) period are very cleansing :) ........fruit itself is cleansing and colon friendly. I believe the only time to aid the elimination is when you are ill or fasting other than that, we are suseptible to irritating our stomach lining, timing and elimiation process all of which is needed for detox. HOw many times have you used the flush? what kind of salt did you use?
If you are eliminating fine without means of laxatives etc. I would suggest doing some lemon juice with warm water in the morning.........very cleansing and rejuveating to liver/kidneys. Keep in mind that fats slow down the cleansing and healing process.....nothing like good ole water......
Stick to eating only 3 or less kinds of foods at one sitting, try some sun teas, green smoothies!
Exercising aids the clneasing process, breathing exercise, detox baths, skin brushing, massaging all those things aid in the detoification process. Skin is the largest detox organ.
Dandelion sun tea is one of my favorties for blood purification.
WHat healt concerns besides diabetes?

I haven't used the salt flush yet- I was planning on doing it this weekend.
I guess I'll try just lots of plain, whole fruits (nothing dried/frozen) mono meals and lots of greens with lemon/lime/orange juice for dressing.
I love working out-didn't know it is cleansing- that rules!
Also, cool information about skin being largest detox organ- never realized that. I have had these blotches (like hives that don't itch) for the last week- they've been driving me nuts (I'm self concious- just got out of long relationship...blah blah blah... :p ).
Only other health problem is a long history of UTIs and 2 rather serious kidney infections, but these are related to diabetes. I am actually amazingly healthy. I'm 21- 22 in 2 weeks and a total health nut :) .

now i can breathe.........i was afraid you had been using it for awhile!
yes, exericse is key for blood flow......aids the lymphatic system......so that toxins ans waswte can move.............brought to you by a healty mvoing colon to rid the toxins.
Raw foods, water, exercise and health mind.
And when your body strengthens, feel free to experiment with fasting if you would like.
Kidney infections.....hmm my personal take, dont' do too many melons. Greens are great to rejuvenate organs.

I am currently doing master cleanse that incorporates the salt flush and believe me it is HARSH.....can't say I am a fan and already dreading the morning!
Miss Linda - could you share your dandelion suntea here or in a new post in recipes? Or email me...Thanks so much!

I am not familiar with the particulars of the salt flush. What is its purpose as part of the master cleanse? I have no idea what kind of answer to expect to this question -- if it is too graphic for you to comfortably write about, just let me know -- but what is so HARSH about the salt flush?

THat's whay I fogot LUvnraw....I was gonna send you the recipe but i'll post here....
I get my dandlion root from parent friend they are dried outside.
I just put couple tbsp in 32 oz of spring water and let it soak in frig overnite. I'm snesitive to root form of herbs so I put more water than suggested.
Nest day, I put it near the window facing the sun in the morning (east). Shake it every now and then and a few hours later, I add alittle ginger to a cup that way the ginger will "move" the dandelion....it's a eatern approach to utilizing the herbs---we use invigorating, warming roots and herbs to make onther ones effective.

While there are some who advocate it !!
I want to read "Water & Salt: The Essence of Life" by Dr. Med. Barbara Hendel and Peter Ferreira. This book was introduced in Germany & is a best seller there.

Hey there! The only time I ever do the SWF is when I'm doing the MC, or some other sort of fast. I find it only works for me on an empty stomach (and don't even start it until I'm on my 2nd or 3rd day into a fast). You mentioned you're a diabetic, if you are interested in detoxing I would recommend getting Stanley Burrough's Book about the Master Cleanse there is a section in there with special instructions for the diabetic. :)

Love the lemon idea- this is what I did this morning. I tossed a whole lemon (peel and all) in the blender with a lttle stevia and a few ice cubes and tiny bit of water- lemon icee! It is a favorite summer treat. Thanks you so much for all the great feedback everyone!

HappyCat - The salt drink on empty stomach is 2tsp raw sea salt in 32oz purified water, drink as fast as you can, chug it.....then they say to give yourself the next 1 and 1/2 hours near the bathroom. For me I consider it harsh and don't like doing it. I drink it, it makes me chest feel heavy and then within 10-15 minutes I have to go. Its purpose is so you keep yourself moving, flushing out the waste/toxins while doing the fast....basically a laxative and I guess I find those harsh as well. Hope that answers your question without being too graphic? ;)
MissLinda - thank you so much for the suntea recipe! I will look forward to having some of that when I am off the MC and onto raw foods, hey maybe by then we'll actually have some sun here in NW Indiana and I'll have some time to pick up a proper jar for it!
Rawbin - Wow that sounds yummy and I bet very tart! I assume since you are using the lemon peel as well that you buy organic?

I just drank most of it in 3 minutes but the last coouple of gulps I was starting to get sick and my stomach was letting me know it's reached it's limit there's less than 7oz left and I tried drinking another sip 10 minutes later and my body still won't accept it.I swallowed it but not comfortablly.
Do I have to drink the whole 32 oz. What if my body won't let me , do i add it to the lemonade mixture later?
Anyone else have this experience?what did u do?

Jenjenn,
According to the MC booklet..salt flush can be modified---some people dont' need the entire 32 oz and let alone, somepeople need to add more or less of the salt.
SAlt flush mixed in lemonaide????
Salt flush is for laxative effect not as a drink---please don't add to lemonaide.

thanks misslinda
I'll just throw out the last 8 oz that I didn't finish and I'll go make the drink and put it in my gallon drink container.
Do you know if people that can't drink the whole mixture in the beggining eventually are able to finish the whole 32 oz. by the end of the mc?

have you ever used the flush before?
if it's a matter of being shunned byu it b/c of taste etc, then some people eventually drink the whole 32 oz. But then again some people have the clenasing effect with only half. It's something you are going to have to monitor and watch for reaction. Quite honestly, I don't like the flush.....my body became more and more ressiting to it where the whole 32 was not enough.........harsh and draining. I only used it twice in my last extended lengthy fast.
And then again, I'm not a fan of MC that much anymore. ;)

this my first time doing the master cleanse as well as the flush.
I love the lemonade, just not the senna, and the salt water flush is alright but too much water and I get too full.which is strange because after eating fries and a chicken sandwich at carl 's jr (when i use to eat there about a year and 1/2 ago) I could drink 32 oz or more of diet pepsi without having the same feeling of sickness when I only drank about 25 oz of the salt water...strange huh?
