please? :D
OK-baby's b-day is Saturday... and SIL just asked me if I was gonna order a pizza for the kids...ummmmm NO
so what would be DELICIOUS, easy to eat (like with hands), and enough to make believers out of them?

Enchiladas with cashew sour cream and salsa
and the banana ice cream
with pesto stuffed mushrooms
or the raviolies,
these are the two that I think are most like SAD foods, but are the BEST raw foods, I eat them all the time. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

about the Ravioli-do the turnips turn brown? and do you typically serve them covered in the sauce?
I have just made a FANTASTIC marinara and bottled it so that would be simple enough.
did consider the stuffed mushrooms-gotta go get more pine nuts, though
my Alissa book is on its way; if it comes in time, I will definitely do the enchiladas.thanks!

Do you have the book Raw Food Real World? The tacos and refried bean recipe in there is sooo good. I dehydrate my tacos 'till crispy though (recipe is for soft tacos). My husband is coming home today soon and he requested this again as his first meal home this time. He's a truck driver. We eat it with the corn guacamole and salsa on top. It's sooo good and so filling. My 4 year old gobbles it up too. I don't dehydrate the refried beans though, I add in a little more water than stated and its perfect as is, without dehydrating.
If you don't have the book, check it out on amazon.com, I believe you can search through the book there a little...

Well, you could always MAKE a pizza for the kids! I find that a raw pizza, warmed in a dehydrator, is very kid friendly.
And I make rawviolis with golden beets instead of turnips, because the sweeter taste is more acceptable to a lot of people who are new to raw.
For grownups, my alltime fave is spaghetti marinara, making the "pasta" with a Spirooli out of yellow summer squash or peeled zucchini, then briefly warming them and the sauce in a dehydrator or water bath, and serving with a little ground cashew/nutritional yeast "parmesan" sprinkled on top. (I posted a photo of this previously) anda green salad on the side. Except for not being steaming hot, it's a total fooler. Most people just eat it without suspecting anything is unusual at all, then when I ask them if they noticed anything, they usually say something like "it's really fresh, isn't it?"
Which provides an easy, natural entree into a discussion of raw foods. Most people I've served this dinner to have been completely intrigued, and several have begun their own exploration of raw foods as a result.

I like Shiva's idea of making pizza for the kids...maybe even make little mini-pizzas!
Also, have a big watermelon boat with lots of cut up fruit in it...there are a few kids on this earth who don't care much for fruit...but most kids love fruit, especially in bite-sized pieces!
If you have lots of games for them to run around playing (what are the ages of the kids you will be entertaining?) and for the most part, they won't be thinking much about food anyway because they'll be too busy having fun! The main thing they're probably gonna want is CAKE anyway! :)
But again, I think that the ages of the children should be considered because kids can be funny...especially older children as in, older than 2 or 3-ish and especially if they're strict SAD eaters. I can't get my older kids to eat too much of anything I make in terms of raw cuisine...they won't even TRY it unless I beg (or force) them to taste it! ;) But my little 3-year old guy will try anything once and most times, he likes my raw food! :D But then again, he was raised (for the most part) eating raw and very limited cooked items.

only one child ate some of EVERYTHING
there were 3 young men aged 3 and all they wanted to do was run around, screaming and poppin balloons ;)- my son included
so the two little girls ate a LOT--of everything, aged 6 and 8
i thiknk the grownups liked the make your-own pizza idea a lot, I cut the bread up into little triangle pieces...a couple people did ask me about the bread, and where they would buy it ;)
