How would those of you who follow a raw food diet define this type of diet? Would you say it is a "diet" a form of "complimentary or alternative medicine", or just a way of life?

I would say It's a way of life.
You have to fuel your body. So you can pick reaching into a bag of chips (man made) or picking a fresh orange (natural).
Since we have to fuel our bodies, why not just do it the natural way (the way of life), feel healthy, look healthy and be healthy. :D

WOW, it pretty much covers everthing! When I first started, it was not far from what I had already been doing but mentally I viewed it as a "diet" something to quickly fix me etc............what is amazing is, hard to really accept it as a diet b/c as I progressed in raw eating and became closer to who I really am and my body responding to the living foods, this truly is LIFE and a way of living. I didn't just wake up one day and decide, this will be a way of life, my body naturally has adapted and it feels AWESOME! :)

For most it starts out as a "diet" to address a specific concern, such as weight or a medical issue.
For many, it becomes a way of life.

For me it's a way of life, definitely...but for many, it's both as so many have shared stories of having many ailments reversed simply by adopting this way of eating!
