Greetings all! I'm new to this discussion board. I just turned 40 and live in the Bay Area (California). I went raw just before Christmas. I tried it once before but the food was so boring I gradually gave it up. While shopping for a veggie cook book for a friend, I found a fantastic raw "cook" book. Now I can't get enough. I even took a raw dish to Christmas dinner.

It's a lot of work but it's a lot of fun. I'm like a mad scientist in the kitchen these days. Cutting, blending, dehydrating.

I'm a bit concerned about folks talking about weight lots. I'm already thin. And folks talking about looking younger. I already look 10 years younger than I really am. I don't want to go back to getting carded!!

I live a lone and with the short "shelf life" of living food my fur residents dine on what might be not so good any more. I have two mischiefs of rats. One male colony and one female. They were an accidental litter sired by an abnormally long lived rat. With their current raw food diet I'm worried about how long they'll really live!!! EEP!!

Glad to have you here. Stop being such a worry wart. All the things you say you are worried about many of us would enjoy having. Just enjoy all the good food, eat more nuts and be happy.

Welcome, MaxMarie! People that are overweight lose on raw, and people that are underweight, gain. Your body will go exactly where it needs to. You're doing great!

First, greetings, MaxMarie!! I just started today. I have read many books about raw food and believe this is for me but I am still having trouble going all the way. I thought this challenge was the perfect trial for me. I don't seem to get bored with the food but I have cravings when i smell food or have to cook. I have read about animals going raw but never knew anyone that tried it. Good for you. I would be interested in your rats life. We had several pet rats but they died just whenthe kids seemed to get attached to them. Also Alissa's book has some wonderful receipies!! Lorna

Hello and welcome. I just started also.

I currently have 4 pet rats (had nine at one time). They mostly get fruit, veggies and lab blocks.
