Hey everyone! I'm totally new to all this, so please bear with me. I just ended a 5 day juice fast and was feeling fantastic until the past couple days. I went back to food and have been eating a "healthy" diet, but it does include some cooked food. (mainly soups) Anyway, my goal is to go 100% raw for a 20 day period. I'm trying to set an intital goal that's realistic. I have about 60 lbs I want to lose and I desperately need energy. I'm a new mom and have an 11 month old son. I need to be able to keep up with him. I want to do everything his little heart desires (including going to the pool!) I'm ready to experience what life could be like if I felt fantastic. And I'd also like to gain a more youthful appearance. I'm turning 30 this year, and I feel like I look more like 40. I want this year to be the year I finally get in shape and live with vitality. Any advice for this newbie??

:o) Andrea

Hi Wanna Be Raw29,

Welcome. You are in great place right now. This board has all of the information you need to start your "100%" journey. Make sure you get a chance to read all of the great messages that Alissa herself has posted as you browse around. The place is a massive source of Raw Food info.

Try to do the 30 day challenge. Check out the journals and search the many threads for topics of interest. Have fun! Enjoy your journey!

Are you near Chicago? Chicago has a Raw Meet up group. There was a buffet last night and it was wonderful. You may want to join here is the URL for the board http://rawfood.meetup.com/58/boards/

All I can say is set your mind to it and don't look back. Go 100%. I think if you don't it is so hard to get there. Alissa says that in her book or dvd one. If you don't have those two things get them and always have food in the house if you don't then trouble can set in. I have only been raw for 18 days but I feel great. I looked into this for 6-8 months before going raw and then realized it was for me. I think the most difficult thing is social events. Everything revolves around SAD food. Good Luck!

Hi wanna-be-raw29, I am new to raw (just about 3 weeks) and also live in Illinois. I would love to have a raw buddy in this new journey. I, too, am about 60 lbs. overweight and Mommy to a 4 and 2 year old. Send me a private email if you wish! I would love to chat - who knows, maybe we live close to each other! :) Good luck!

Hi Andrea! I'm in Illinois, too. Unfortunate we're not near Florida oranges or California fruit trees, huh? ^___^ Best of luck on your journey, I hope you and your little boy have lots of fun this summer!
