Just made a cheescake from a recipe I got off this site. I could really taste the coconut oil. Should I? I like coconut, so it isn't a problem, I'm just curious.
By the way, instead of using a pie pan, I used a 9x13 inch rectangle pan. I'm going to see how it serves up as "cheesecake squares."

I don't know what recipe you used. But if you use too much, the coconut oil will over power the other flavors. If it is too much, adjust it next time.
I haven't made a raw cheese cake yet. Last year, I had a raw carrot cake for my birthday. The frosting was sort of a raw "cream cheese." SO GOOD!

Hummm, I don't think so,
I think all the flavors should compliment each other, but I don't know your recipe so it might even be a misprint or the author just loves coconut butter, or it could be your brand has more flavor, as differenet brands taste way different.

If you're talking about the cheesecake that Judy something something posted here, when I make mine yes you can taste the coconut oil along with the lemon in it distinctively but many (along with myself) find it's perfect like that. Some adjust the coconut oil and/or the lemon though. Me, all I do is just double the crust. I REALLY like crust lol.

Lunawitch, I agree the cheesecake tastes good with the coconut flavor. I think you are correct as to which recipe I used. I may ad a smidge more lemon juice next time, just to compare.
What kind of coconut oil do you prefer?

Hey pamojamo!
I haven't tried many coconut oils, only 2 different brands and the second one I really like so I haven't felt the need to try any others. I get my coconut oil from Swanson Vitamins, their brand of oil -- "Swanson Ultra" Extra Virgin Certified Organic. Though I have read that there isn't a difference in virgin and extra virgin concerning coconut oil. But the "extra" isn't why I use it, I use it cause I find it tasty. :D
Alissa sells a brand of coconut oil that most enjoy and rave about also.
There's another brand that I've seen mentioned on these boards that some like, but I forget the name!
Anyhow, if I can swallow a tablespoon of pure coconut oil without wanting to gag then I'm good to go! I found that with the brand I use.
Hey, how did your squares turn out? Great I bet!
You know, I thought your name was pajama joe. I really need to slow down and read sometimes.
