I read in Alissa's book...and Alissa, if your reading this...Alissa's story with candida, and on p. 87 of her book she tells what you should eat to accomplish "x". For candida she says to limit sweet fruits, and eat lots of greens...I eat fruit everday. I have a rash and other symptoms that all point to candida. I went to an integrative medical Dr. who wanted to test my blood (which I couldn't afford), but with all the questions he asked me, he felt I did have candida. From everything I've read about it, I also think I do. I would like to have an example of what YOU (Alissa) or someone in my position, may have eaten in the beginning of getting rid of candida, and approximately how long until I can start to eat lovely fruit again? Thanks for your help. By the way, I have added more greens EVERYDAY, but sometimes in the form of smoothies, which I will miss.....so I need suggestions. You should also know that I CRAVE sweets, so this will be hard, but I know it will be worth it to see this rash that I've had for almost 20 years go away! MANY THANKS!

Wendy,

Do you mind telling me what does your rash look like and does it itch?
I know raw coconut oil is excellent antifungal.

Thank you Sharon....I really needed to read that! I've attempted 100% raw 3 times (this being the 3rd) and each time it does seem to get worse in the beginning....so I should look for some changes after a few months, or if I cut out fruits for a couple of weeks, maybe sooner! :D That makes me VERY happy! THANK YOU AGAIN!

Hi tvillemom
This worked for me (twice now)

100% raw, no fruit except apples and lemon juice (mainly to help vary taste of juices) for 10 days.

Introduce fruit slowly after 11 days.
drink plenty of water
exercise
get plenty of rest.

I suffered on cooked for about the same time period as you!
Its fantastic to be able to eat fruit freely and not have to deal with that problem anymore!

I also understand that a short (3 or 4 day) water fast works and has the advantage of speeding up the process!

blessings :)

The rash becomes very scaley.(very thick scales)..then the "scales" fall off, sometimes there are little "sores" that bubble up and itch REALLY bad (usually that's when my diet is SAD). Right now, the skin just looks really dry and alittle scaley, but better than my SAD eatin' days. The itching is getting less....so I hope this is the "beginning of the end" ;)

Sharon I just read that link about Candida and it totally gave me hope! I have Candida and have been flustering around for five years trying to get rid of it but not having the discipline. I LOVE fruit. I just started eating raw and don't want to give it up. I was worried that I would have to still give up fruit while I was eating raw to get rid of the Candida.

I used to have yeast infections like crazy, ALL the time, I was the Monostat Queen, I haven't had a yeast infection for years, then just a couple of weeks ago here it was, so I started taking probiotics, went away in 3 days, no yeast, no itching, no smell, easy, and no monostat either.

I feel great, it may not be the same with candida, or it may be the same, but I didn't stop eating fruits at all, of course, I don't like all the sweet fruits, I pretty much eat pineapple and thats mostly it, so I kept eating my pineapple. I did start eating greens more though, and I took the pro biotics, went away very fast, I am still taking the pro biotics as a precaution, and I think they are a good thing to take, until the bottle is gone, then I'll probably stop.

I didn't give up fruit either, have candida and I am currently taking probiotics. I take it in a daily basis, candida or not. They help me to replenish my flora in my digestive system as well. I love it, and help me to keep myself clean all the time and out of Candida! :) My candida is almost gone, I can feel it and can see it. Probiotics Rawk! :D

There are different views on candida and a raw diet. Dr. Graham and there are others that agree that it is the fat in the diet that causes candida, so therefore a raw food diet low in fat and high in fruits and veggies will clear this up. He claims that by completely getting rid of fat in the diet for at least 7 days will clear it up. I still have to find this out myself.

Others think it is the sugar that causes the yeast. So, a lot of people go off the fruit for awhile until this clears up.

Whichever it is, maybe try both? You never know what will work for YOU.

Hope this helps,

Divaitalia ;)
