Pecans

My mother in law gave us a big basket of pecans. I politely said thank you and brought them home. Then I asked DH if the pecans were raw, or had they been heated/where did they come from, etc. Turns out they are straight from the tree! Mother-in-law's neighbor has a pecan tree. In 20 years of marriage, I've never paid attention to that. No more paying for pecans for me! I'll have to pick the nuts out of the shells, but so what? I'm psyched! Can't wait to use them for recipes in Alissa's book.

wow, you're kind of luckiest person in the world right now =) I would die for a pecan hook-up. Or any raw food hook-up, really. But something like pecans is pretty awesome--yay for you! Are you going to make the pecan pie?

I just had the same thing happen to me! My aunt's neighbor has a pecan tree and said she could have all she wanted! She immediately thought of me and grabbed a big grocery bag full. Is there anything I should "do" to them before I eat them? (like wash, maybe even alittle bleach incase of mold or something?) thanks.
