It's 5a.m. and I'm going to at least say hello after all this lurking ;)

I started looking into raw because my 3 boys are a walking litany of allergies, asthma and eczema. My husband and I are both diabetics (type 2) with various physical complaints but my major concerns were for my boys. Now I see that this change in eating lifestyle is going to save all of us.

I have concerns about how complicated the transition will be since we will still have to keep the current allergies and health conditions in mind (right?).
The boys can't eat - any gluten; soy; peanuts; cashews;egg; or dairy. Since a raw diet eliminates egg and dairy those won't be a problem but is the rest easy to get around.

I must admit that our family (I'm Puerto Rican and my husband is of Scottish/German descent) is big into meat, poultry and seafood, so transitioning away from that will be difficult. It seems complicated to me, I'm uncertain how to begin.

Oh, I'm really just nervous that I won't be able to maintain this, even though I can plainly see it will be the best thing for all of us.

I wish someone could just give me a 14-day menu that say's, 'Eat This'. I would feel directed and a bit more secure to start out. But what I've read on this forum has been so supportive and encouraging that I'm determined we will do this - however long it takes for me to get it right.

I noticed that there will be a training/certification class held in my area in June. That will be great! Of course now, June seems altogether too far away :p .

Anywhoo - nice to meet you all. I'm looking forward to this next step in my personal development.

Hi
Probably the first thing you should is get Alissa's book. Some people (like me) go 100% straight away but many others transition gradually. You should decide which way you want it.
You could decide that breakfast will be 100%, Lunch 75% and dinner 50% and then gradually up it untill you are 100% all of the time. I will send you some recepies if I can email you.
I have sent you something. I can see from the address that there is a serious Scottish thing going on there so as a fellow Celt I want to say Welcome.

Welcome. I to wish I had a 14 day menu! But each person has her own likes and dislikes. I think the suggestion to get Alissa's cook book is a good one.
You can also search the web and this forum for recipes.

Use the "banana" at the top of the page to search this forum.

In no time at all, you will have a menu planned out.

I like to eat smoothies for breakfast during the week because they are fast and easy.

I have a salad for lunch and add avocado- that gets me through the afternoon. For dinner, I like to try the recipes on the weekends. If I am lazy, I will make another salad or just eat mixed chopped veggies with curry or some other seasoning and some raw nuts. So far, that has worked for me.

Good Luck!
