Miss Linda,

I would love to join you but just finished a rather extensive fast and don't think my body is going to be ready to undertake another one.

But I will join you in spirit and eat only Fuji apples. :) And I have been and will be sending healing vibes towards Carmel and Chris.

Fating report:
I struggled the first 24 hrs by the end of the nite. Overall felt, proud to pull thru. It's like my body is recalling fasting--very emotional experience in itself ;)

Hi Miss Linda!

I was so very glad to see that you started this thread as I consider you to be the "fasting queen" and I had intended on sending you a PM to talk with you a bit about fasting. I started a fast today, this morning. I want to do a lovely cleansing fast. I have been wanting to do an extensive fast for quite some time now and really feel like if I don't do it now, then it will never happen, at least not for a long time. My last attempt at a long fast failed on day 5. I have done 7 days. I am aiming for 30. I would love to chat with you about fasting and just be able to talk with someone who is going through it too and who has also already done it.

I am looking forward to hearing from you. I have so many questions!

Thanks
:)

Oh goodie! Missionary, thank you for joining the circle.....it's a reward to not only fast but a purpose involved. We can really encourage each other and use our existing energy to uprise healing.

Please feel free to ask all your questions here that way if anyone else wants to know, the answers will be here. LOL......I wasw getting fasting questions like 20 times a day in my PM box  Hardly a queen, just another person who learned the hard way and happy to share experiences.

Glad to see you and may the healing begin.....

Hello,

I went today and got what I needed to do the master cleanse. I have never tried it before, and it sounded like a good idea.

Yesterday I had carrot/apple juice. The carrots were awful and thus my juice was awful too and I ended up throwing it away. So really I didn't drink much juice yesterday due to the yucky carrots. Today I am have had grape and apple and orange juice. I love the orange juice. It is just so fresh and yummy tasting. Tomorrow I am starting the master cleanse. I got some "get balanced, or regular, or something like that" tea to drink at night, and I am going to try the salt flushes. We'll see.

Ok, thats all for now.

Sweet Carmel & Chris sending you warm glows of comfort for you inwardness.....

today was an unusal day of fasting I might say....cannot put into words....it felt like a day to get down to the bottow of it all and purge the deep embedded scars of yesterday. ;)

Not much juicing mostly water. and red clover tea :)

Salutations Chris! :) it's very quiet this morning. The sky is milky white and remaining calm.

So far so good!

I drank the salt water this morning and YUCK! It did produce the desired results though so that was good.

Doing good today on the master cleanse. It is much easier to do than juicing as it doesn't require all the "work" of making juices.

I am getting that funny taste in my mouth again that always comes with fasting. Also does anyone else have a problem with their sense of smell getting stronger while they are fasting and thus everyone has bad breath and you just don't want to talk to anyone because their breath smells so bad? I hate that, and it always seems to happen to me.

misslinda

Hi Linda,

Do we choose whatever way we want to fast? I've been thinking since the first of the year of doing a few weeks of mostly smoothies & juices with a few pieces of fruit here and there. I'm not sure if that would be considered fasting?

Thanks!

misslinda
03-29-2006, 07:19 PM
Yamsy! Great question.......by traditional definiton, it's either water of juice BUT please modify to your perference. I happen to believe it abstaining from all solid food so that the digestive system can shut down and divert all enymes toward healing and repairing etc. Please do what you feel is right.

btw, what a beautiful face (avatar). would love to have you in the healing cirlce :)

I just spoke with my husband and he's joining too. We've both talked about doing this but doing it for this purpose is a stronger incentive to carry through.

I think what I'll do is do all fruits tomorrow and then go onto juices and water Saturday the 1st -- until Easter Sunday.

Sweet Carmel, you Chris and Laura are in our prayers. We send love, prayers and strong healing energies your way!!

Thank you Linda!!

. . . . . . . .

What kind of juicer do you guys use for greens?

`

misslinda
03-29-2006, 08:00 PM
I have the Jack LaLanne Power Juicer $99.00

Stuff like parlsey, spinach and cilatro, I ball it to give it more solidness otherwise doesn't juie very well OR I will run it thru with celery. Kale and swiss chard juices great!

Please thank your husband for joining and bless the both of you. Easter, yes, what a perfect way to end the fast! :)

My husband works for a trucking company and a couple of truckers recently had to off-load several cases of carrots and spinach. Our fridge is stacked! I really feel it was in prep for this. We have dandelions galore in the backyard and some other grasses from bird seed last year.

I have the Jack Lalanne too so I'll try balling it up. I was just checking on wheatgrass juicers and may get one of those.

I've never done this so please send some strong vibes my way! I'll remember your driving getaway if it gets too tough! :D

Not a problem Yamsy---better to do a day at a time...

for reference, this is a very well liked fasting site---to the left are other sub topics.

http://www.freedomyou.com/fasting_book/juice%20fasting.htm

I'll layout some key points too:

By abstinsing from food, we are shutting down the digestive system so the body's energies can divert enzymes towards detoxification, cleansing, healing, reparing and rebuilding.

Skin is the largest detox organ!!!

Keeping hydrated is very important. Spring or distilled is desireable

Because toxns and waster expel via colon, we can expect a build up of this matter and would benefit from assisting in eliminating it since bowels tend to slow down and cease during abstaining from food (fasting)

Have you decided to do without an eliminator?

Days 1, 5 and 12 are usually the toughest . Day 5 the body is typically 80% toxins

Please keep in mind that the body's metabolism, blood pressure will slow down so keeping a relaxed state of mind mentally, physiclaly and emotionally is very important as the body needs to use all it's energies towards healing.

Juicing: Make sure all pulp is strained as if there is any, the body will think it is food thus pulling enegry to break it down

Keep blood flow moving as its beneficial to the lymph system, organs etc. you can do detox baths, deep breathing, meditation, energy work or whaever modalities work for you

Expect detox symptoms in many forms, rash, headaches, dizziness, crying outburts, depression, achiness, past symptoms etc.

Do you have any concerns?

Do you have a histo :) ry of blood sugar issues?

I find that juicing mostly greens mixed with alittle apple or carrot, keeps the body steady. Juicing every 3-4 hours

drinking water in between juicing sets

Healthy as a horse, as far as I know. I've recently checked my bp and it was perfect. No sugar problems. I've been high raw for several months (a few 100% days), so that should help, yes?

Thank you for the link and the info! I'll study it up tomorrow. Are you keeping a separate journal or journaling on this thread?

misslinda
03-29-2006, 08:54 PM
Heeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaw healthy as a horse ey? :D

Yes, being raw definately brings you ahead in the detox threshold. I will drop by every morning for greetings to our dear friend and quick update but details will be in my perosnal journal. how 'bout you? :)

Oh, one more question... I saw your post about magnesium powder. I looked it up and it's magnesium citrate. Do you think any magnesium citrate powder will do or just that particular brand? I found much better prices when I froogled it. (what size is the calm brand?)

OKey....... I think I'll open a journal area too...............

Dr Giliham's CALM comes in 4 or 16 oz I believe.

Spent the day preparing mentally, emotionally, spiritually for the fast. Many thoughts and prayers sent up for the Holfelds.

I worked with my plants that have been in hibernation for the winter. Many look as though their last hope is gone. But with the right combination of TLC, water, nutrients, fresh air and sunshine, they will soon be budding out new life. What a joy to stick a little dead looking plant in the soil and watch it spring up with new life. Thought so many times of all of us here giving ourselves the right conditions to bloom and flourish!

. . . . . .

misslinda, a lot of questions came to my mind today but I don't want to fill up this thread with questions. What do you think about starting a fasting info thread?

Hi! Can I join in with some fasting questions?

I just finished a 21 day cleanse with the last 3 days being a modified master cleanse. I was doing enemas (3 2quart bags nightly) for two weeks. The 21 days included all raw, lots of yummy green smoothies and drinks, wheat grass, then the enemas and finally the fast. It was boot camp for my body. I was fine till my sinuses wouldn't stop draining and then started to fill up leading to a sinus infection. My holistic doctor took care of that, though.

Anyway, with the cleanse being almost a week over, I'm a little down. I'm right back to eating raw, but I miss that wonderful lightness of drinking. But I don't miss the anxiety of wanting to eat (or thinking I need to eat). Know what I mean?

All I can think about is wanting to try to fast again. Maybe twice a week, maybe one meal a day?

For all of you regular fasters, do you think this is a normal thought process after doing a cleanse? I mean, trying to balance everything?

I hope this makes sense...

Thanks!

Great to have you join us Debbie !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

VERY TRUE! I know exactly what you mean Debbie! It weas very emoitonal for me to end my previous extended fast and emotional transitioning back into foods and trnasitioing back to a fast. I really belive that when the body becomes purer, there may be less food needed..............maybe even an indication of needing more cleansing.........

Are you concerned about staying clean?

Concerned about weight gain?

Hi!

I am drinking the Yogi Get Balanced tea at night and it is quite yummy! Today is day 5 of my fast and day 3 of my master cleanse. I am finding it much easier to just do the cleanse. One thing though that I have discovered is that is is not a good idea to do a cleanse when your husband is remodeling the only bathroom in the house!

The problem I have with having a hightened sense of smell is that everyones breath smells bad to me. It is rather gross.

Other than that I am doing really really good. I am in good spirits and enjoying this. The only hard time I have is when I have to make supper for my family, but so far I have been overcoming this. One of my friends at our church is my prayer partner and she has been praying for me to be able to get through this.

I hope you all are doing well.

Miss Linda, thanks for the info on what days are the most difficult. That is good to know!

Thanks for the warm welcome, Miss Linda. And I love your avatar!

Well, cleansing was very emotional. And I did find it even more emotional to stop the cleanse even though it was so challenging. And now I am realizing that I just don't need to eat so much food (raw food, of course) and it's a challenge because I like to eat. Know what I mean??

Why do I want to cleanse? For a few reasons. 1. I love the light and lean feeling. I have more energy to chase my twins, clothing feels great on me, and I feel healthy. 2. My yoga practice is both spiritual and physical, and I want my eating to be part of that. 3. I have a tendency to get caught up in the overwhelming world of food we live in and I want simplicity.

With that said, I started today with a smoothie (my favorite part of my cleanse) and I've only had a fruit salad since then. I plan on juicing till dinner and then have a smoothie or juice for dinner. I just don't want to eat a lot. It doesn't feel good, even a lot of raw food.

I have a party tonight with yoga friends and we're not even having food. I bought everyone flowers instead. Now that feels good.

Love,

misslinda

Debbie,

I know that exact feeling......I interpret that as our bodies talking to us. I really believe that our minds (intellect) battle with the internal intuitive lanugage that develops within and they have an ongoing dialect until our inward wisdom develops adn in content. Sounds like you have a grasp on it and nothing wrong with doing continued fasting--especially that your intent is tapped into the center of it all. At times I feel guilty but it is b/c of old thoughts, feelings, intellect and conditionings that make me question. I too love food and struggle with past friction of hating and loving food........I would love to hear what emotional.mental changes you go thru with this while fasting. :)

Just wanting to know if I can join the fasting circle a bit late? I'm going to be fasting doing the Master Cleanse for at least 10 days starting Monday. I've never fasted this long before so the posts I've read in preparation are encouraging.

MissLinda, a couple questions....you mentioned red clover tea in one post on fasting. Is this NOT for the Master Cleanse? But, only for a juice fast? I have a senna tea which was recommended for the Master Cleanse.

And since the main purpose of starting this fasting thread was to lend support and to send healing prayers to Chris, just know I will also be praying during this time for Chris to be made whole again and for his body to be healed.

Absoulutely you are more than welcome to join the fasting circle!

The Master Cleanser is a fsating program of it's own IF you decided to follow what Stanley Burrough suggests and outlines. However, in my opnion, juicin fasting can be modified in many ways as long as one if abstaining from food.

OHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhh? My VERY personal opinion is to stway away from Senna. It's not only my opinion but a number of members as well as the employees from my own health food store that I shop are sketpical about senna as well....yes it is effective but HARSH and side effects can ill you pretty good. The last time I used as tea that has senna in it, I had heart palps and sweated and I thought I was going to die

if you need a laxative effect or eliminator, I would suggest a nice warm home enema or magensium powder or salt flush IF your body tolerates it.

My last extended fast, I was eliminating every 6 days and mamaged well....some need more depending on detxo symptoms etc

Thank you for acknowledging the purpose of our fast and by all means, if anyone here in the circle have any concerns about fasting details please ask -for you safety is important while he join together.

what a great news!!! I pray God protect and bless sweetgodness and Chris and do not let them suffer more than to bear... If he can sleep, the healing will be much faster. Thanks God..

Linda, you are such a special girl with such strong loving power... I fell off the fast by eating some green smoothie.. But I will start again and back to juice now....

I just juiced nettles (almost one cup). Tast is not good but it will be good for healing..

Wish fasting folks a warm and peaceful spring day,

Hi, everyone.

I'm fasting today. My weekly 24 hour fast. After a late night raw snack (which I wasn't hungry for but am still dealing with just eating to eat...at least the awareness is there!), I woke up this morning wanting to fast for a day. So, I'm just drinking water and herbal teas. I plan to do an enema this evening before going to bed. I'll break the fast tomorrow morning with a juice and then fruit.

I'm really working on my yoga practice today of "letting go". Everytime I feel hunger, I'm just letting it go. There are worse discomforts in the world than a day of feeling like I need food. It's such a growing experience, isn't it?

Take care.

So glad Chris is able to sleep on his back. If he's resting more peacefully, his body has more time to spend on healing.

It's hot here today and I've mowed the grass. Can you juice grass?? Just kidding....I think? :)

The billboard at church this morning said "Sorrow looks back, worry looks around and faith looks up". So, I'm looking up and praying for Chris' to be healthy and whole once again.

Starting the master cleanse fast tomorrow. I've had fruit and a salad today. I'll have only fruit the rest of the day.

Have a good day.

p.s. MissLinda, can you do the Master Cleanse only five days? (My boyfriend is wondering because he's going out of town next weekend) I think it would defeat the purpose, but maybe not?

Also, I've never done an enema and don't like the sound of it. The Master Cleanse book doesn't recommend them. What if I really diluted the Senna tea? But, I see the box says not to take more than 1 to 2 weeks without asking your doctor? Mmmm. My natural health books also suggests it.

Is there a milder laxative tea I could drink instead??? I'll try the salt water flush but I've read others say that is harsh also. And, depending on my day that day, I might not be able to do that, you know? :o

Well hello to all!

I am glad to hear that Chris is doing better! That is wonderful news.

Today marks a new day for me. This is day 8 of my fast. My longest fast before was 7 days and lately I have not been able to make it past 4 or 5 days so I am very excited.

I am really enjoying the Master cleanse. I am on day 6 of it. I am planning on at least 10 days of the master cleanse if not longer. I fasted for 2 days before starting the Master cleanse on just juice. I have been drinking the senna tea at night with no il effects. I have not been doing the salt fulsh every day though. I have only done it three times. It does produce results but for me I think every day is just a bit too much. Also it is pretty gross, although I am getting more used to it. It wasn't quite as bad this morning.

I hope everyone else is doing good.

Miss Linda, thanks for posting the update for us. Encouraging news!

Leiloshka,

There's no right or wrong however, in terms of deeper level of healing, the length is important. Even if he does a day or two,, it 's still offering his body "rest" and cleansing......the only thing I 'd be aware of, is the lemon is so powerful that the next day, he should still eat kindly and gently.....anything to prevent from shocking the digestive system is good to practice.

The MC--Stanley isgoing to have his views etc so doesn't mean an enema is bad per se. It REALLY depends on what works for you. Senna dilluted or not is not the issue, it's the herb itself. Yes, b/c it an herb, your going to have those that think it's great! Personally myself and exhange with other members here and one member who worked for a digestive clinic---we agreed to not use it. Again, at your discretion.

Is there a milder laxative tea I could drink instead??? I'll try the salt water flush but I've read others say that is harsh also. And, depending on my day that day, I might not be able to do that, you know?

If you plan on salt flush, what salt are you using?

Laxative tea.........let me think about this. Red clover fasting tea by Yogi gives me stimulation....

I use Dr Gilian's CALM to draw the toxins down and increase doage for laxatgive effect. I will do a combo with mag and home enema.........but my body can handle 1 every 7 days or so.

Oxy powder is poplular but I have never used it myself

:)

Let us pray for Chris and Cameli,

Good morning Chris,May they feel blessing day by day..neve lose hope!!!

Linda, I feel for you so much!! for I was experiencing exact same as you are now. My psoriasis was spreading all over my legs. It was swelloning too.. Then I started a fast again. But now they are all gone, only a bit color on skin remain. I believe they are gone totally soon.

The toxin is brought out to the surface. You need to help detox.. like doing bath..drink much more water.. avoid galic, onion..spicy stuff. Ginger is good.

Hang on there, after all these toxin are out, you will have no psoriasis.

Much love and light for you,

Great is your strength and passion. May the day be filled with unexpected events. Peace and Love to you this day.

Salutations Chris ! :)

We have kept you in thoughts and prayers. Be free, willing and able b/c you are loved by many friends here --who await for you. The "emotions" of today's sunrise feels ready to escape. Feels like bottled up tears that want to spill over and be dried by the new Spring Sun. :)

Hi fellow fasters,

At this point of fasting, I feel the essence of time is nonexistence. I see everyone more vivdly and their energies, character and emotions pop out at me.

Do you exercise while fasting? If so, same routine as when you are not fasting, or modified. Thanks,
Pamojamo

Hi there Pamojamo,

OH NO  the hills would kill my heatrate. I do the brisk walking with much smaller inclination but not for raising the heartrate more for stretch and blood flow and connection with nature. :)

BUMP: today and I've mowed the grass. Can you juice grass?? Just kidding....I think?

r u serious?  hugh, i've never thought about it. i guess you could here is info from a pet site about why dogs cats eat grass

You can think of grass as an herbal medicine. It acts as an internal cleanser, expelling excess mucus, bile, and other impurities. It also cleanses the bowels and expels worms. Cereal grasses contain enzymes, vitamins, minerals, and amino acids. Grass also contains chlorophyll, which was used for relieving pain, treating infections, ulcers, skin diseases, and anemia prior to the use of antibiotics.

I"m thinking we don't b/c we have so much unhealthy soil and all the lawn mowers have poulluted it..........theoretically you could but as far as purity, that would be an issue. :)

I am just completing my weekly 24 hour juice fast now. I feel fabulous. And this is great for me, usually 24 hours is a challenge. But doing it weekly, I am gaining confidence and discipline. Soon, I will extend the 24 hours to 48.

I'm ready for my papaya and avocado salad for dinner.
