You could make a nut torte.

1 cup almonds (or walnuts, or any other)
1 cup raisins (or dates)
a bit of squeezed lemon

play with it if you like, it isn't very difficult.
I just made one with...
1 cup almonds
splash of fresh orange juice and lemon juice
1 cup soaked jujube berries
1 cup raisins
handful of walnuts

I never use the same recipe, I always alternate, it is pretty versatile.
You just combine nuts and some type of raisin, date or cranberries
Add liquid to your desired consistency... you can roll them into balls or make a torte out of them (spread it on a plate, chill and serve!)

I made one with raisins and cranberries one time, very good! You can put goji berries in there too.

Banana Ice Cream.........but you'll need frozen bananas. I make it and keep it in the freezer to use in smoothies.....awesome when freshly made.....just bananas~

The "s" blade is used for most everything. The round one is for breads methinks.

Alissa's strawberry crepes. SO easy and SO delicious. You can serve them to anybody; don't mention the word *whispers* "raw" and watch them get gobbled up.

I had a case of jujube dates in the 70's that were dark in color and a date. Is this the same thing you are talking about.

hi, i also have just bought myself a food processor. i am going to make Alissas date and nut torte in it as the first thing. The recipe is really easy and it is really nice. i am a little nervous as i hope the food processor is ok. i lack faith in gadgets. anyway, we will see...
what did you make in the end and how was it???

Yes I believe that is it.. they taste a lot like dates. I wasn't sure if they were considered to be in the family of dates though. They are round and smaller than a date. I soaked them for a few days (in the 'fridge) to soften the skin before I used them. They needed to be soft enough so that I could take out the pit. The ones I had were very tough before I soaked them.

the recipes on that page are great! i am definitely getting alissa's book now.. ;)

Thanks MissLinda.. I did just get a vitamix and a food processor too.. Our bank account is definitely feeling the weight of our dietary transition! but its worth it! I don't think I am going to be able to resist buying a dehydrator for much longer.. Thanks to Shivananda's post about making sprouters, I don't need to buy those lol..
