I have been craving salty stuff the last few days. Don't know why or what to do about it.

Dulse is great for salty cravings- try DLT- dulse. tomato, sprouts, mashed avo and lemon in a lettuce wrap. Yum!
Also- I made sweet poato chips the other day- I don't have a dehydrator or anything. I just sliced that bad boy up and sprinkled with salt, pepper, rosemary and sage. Super crunchy!

It looks like you were eating a lot of water-based foods. Maybe you should incorporate some dehydrated flax crackers (you can mix some celtic sea salt in with it). Or make some of Alissa's cheesy chips (or are they called cheesy crackers? I forgot). I just bought some sweet potatoes to make them this weekend. Yum.

Are you trying to avoid salt for any special reason? Mind you, I'm not saying you should eat spoonfuls of it but if you are craving it and you are eating 100% raw, feed that craving. You might crave because you are missing some of the minerals in the salt itself. When I crave salt, I sprinkle a tiny bit of celtic sea salt in my salad or on a tomato and the craving is gone. Raw salt is not bad for you. Excess anything is bad.

I agree! Celtic sea salt and Himalayan Pink salt are loaded with minerals!! Now why do people try to totally avoid it? I don't see any logical rational to avoid it completely. One of my friends did this and ended up with hypothyroidism from the lack of iodine. Excess certainly isn't good, but we need many nutrients and minerals in small quantities in a variety of foods. Our bodies are very smart and intelligent, they know best what they need!! I try to listen to my body and I find the best answers there. Please don't read this to mean eat table salt, but unrefined salt is OK IMHO.

I am not trying to avoid it. Up until a few days ago a pinch here and there was great. But, right now I could open the bag and just eat it.

I have been raw since the 70's and never use any salt, however I do eat algae daily, maybe that would help.

Speaking of seaweeds that are salty...does anyone have any good salad dressing recipes with dulse or kelp in them???
