Even as we speak it's 4:30 pm and I'm having the afternoon blahs. In the past a cup of coffee would've picked me up, but I don't use caffeine any more. Any suggestions? I'm not hungry but I usually get the blahs if I'm hungry (low blood sugar.)
Thanks,
Maria (raw almost 90 days now!!)

Definitely exercise, or some deep breathing. Even just sitting for a moment, thinking about the times in your life you were most excited, energized and in love with life! You can feel the energy charging!
If you're needing food a quick piece of fruit could help too!
Our modern life is quite different from how life used to be. We're not meant to sit stationary so much of our lives... no wonder so many people turn to coffee for a quick artificial pick up. The goal is to find something that makes YOU feel vibrantly alive!

I rarely get the afternoon slump anymore, which is quite lovely as I used to get it all the time. I never was a big coffee drinker so I would just suffer through it or grab a sweet. I think it is because I'm snacking throughout the day on different things so I never truly hit a low.

30-45 minutes of cardio
pineapple, rasin and almond milk smoothie
15 minute power nap
2-3 minute of power smooching

Deep breathing is so good for that. It is amazing how well it works.
Even if you just breathe in for say 4 counts hold it for 8 and breathe out for 8. Within a few breaths you should feel energized.

Thank you all for your suggestions! I'm going to start doing the deep breathing as I can't exercise while at work. I'm definitely not going back to coffee! :) The smoothie sounds yummy too.

Also, one more tip: don't forget, if you are hungry, eat! I always have a fruit snack in the late afternoon, and this gives me needed energy and carries me over until dinner.
I agree that exercise is great for picking up energy, too. I find that even if I am tired after work, once I begin working out, and especially after I finish, I always feel better than if I hadn't exercised.
