View Full Version : strange symptoms???

I am 15 days 100% raw. I get strange physical symptoms immediately after eating certain foods, such as a tingling, pins and needles sensation across my back when I eat sesame milk or tahini. My heart started to pound when I ate hazelnuts. I am avoiding the foods that elicit strange symptoms and am scared that I am getting more limited. I cannot eat any fruits or grains (including soaked and sprouted), and certain nuts are out. I am eating salads, veggies, some nuts, and vegetable juices with greens.
Is this part of transition? Has this happened to other people? Please tell me your thoughts and experiences.

Hi Beth!
Can you share with us what health concerns you had prior to raw?
The symptoms you describe sound all too familiar but also want to know why fruits are avoided?
what part of your back?
in addition, are you soaking nuts etc?

My health problems prior to raw are mainly candida. Both pregnancies were 9 months of yeast infection. It was under control when I wasn't pregnant, but I was (am) ultra-sensitive to sugar. I get depressed within minutes of eating it, which doesn't leave until the following day. I am also definitely addicted to sugar, even though for 2 years I have only periodically eaten it (once every few months).
The fruit thing came from a "test" I had done which said I was "fruit intolerant." I ignored it as I thought that was ridiculous, but as time passed I noticed that strawberries made me hypoglycemic, and berries in general didn't agree with me. I got sick this winter with a sinus infection and everything tasted ultra-sweet. Apples tasted ultra strong, so I thought - maybe that test is right - and I have been avoiding fruit (but not tomatoes or cucumbers or bell peppers). The other day I tried a grapefruit and it, too, tasted very very sweet. And I bloated up a bit afterwards.
I feel like I am blind in this process, but I have 100% faith in trusting my body. I do hope that with time on 100% raw I can someday eat fruit again.
Yes, I do soak my nuts. And the pins and needles (a new symptom I have never had before) go right across my middle back, where the bra line is and above - between the scapulae.
Thanks - I'd appreciate any thoughts or comments.

WOW this is fascinating b/c I am helping another member here with her candida and she is having the exact same pins and needle in those areas.
any prior allergies or meds before being dianosed?

I am taking 1/2 grain armour thyroid. No other meds. No allergies in the classical sense, but I have found a disturbing increase in food sensitivities the last few years. I just found more foods didn't sit right with me after I ate them (wheat as an example). Dairy made me hypoglycemic, sugar (as mentioned above) made me depressed, some foods would quicken my heartrate.
While raw I ate sprouted wheat berries, and a cereal of soaked and dehydrated buckwheat/millet/hazelnuts - each time I would get a fast, hard-beating heart and a left sciatica right after eating. And very bloated.
It definitely peaks my interest that someone has similar pins and needles symptoms who also has candida - can you tell me more?

yes, we're definately thinking her liver (blood stagnancy) is repsonding to the foods.....she gets tired easily after eating. Muscle stiffness usually from shoulders upward.
We're eliminating all fruits for several weeks.
We are reapairing her gut lining to repair walls and pull yeast dead cells off the walls as well
using probiotics to restore flora
Making sure she get BM's moving
doing other topical treatments to reid toxins and give her circulations

Interesting -
I get tired after eating.
I get muscle aches from the shoulders up, but only eating fruit.
Are you actively trying to kill her yeast (garlic and oregano oil?) or simply trying to alter her ecological environment to make it less yeast friendly? I would like to try some of your suggestions.

Yes, tired after eating with her as well. Yep,shoulder thingy. what are you currently eating ?
I don't like oregano oil b/c it is too powerful and kills the good bacteria this already dead or suffering. Garlic I find can be an irritant so I void suggesting that to her.
1. What I suggested to her was Slippery elm bark powder made into a warm water base to repair the lining which the Elm also draws toxins out of the linining and helps slough off candida dead cells that may have stuck itself to the walls. 10 days may have to do off and on in future b/c as toxins get pulled, may irritate lining
2. We decided to keep her off ALL fruits for 3 weeks and neutralize her and clnease her body with greens / selective veggies according to her body type and symptoms
3. Othe modalities like castor oil to give some circulation and help draw out toxins from her body, Detox baths,Breathing exercises, massages, bouncing etc.
4. Becuase her body needs to preserve the energy in ridding the toxins as her energy deplets fast, we decided to have her blend most of her food.
6. We just added honey and cinnamon. I just read this morning that cinnamon in a German study, kills various funji which I was excited to read about.
7. We keep it simple to give her body time and rest to cleanse--we're doing a powder form of magnesium to help neutralize duringmore challenging detox times and assist in bowels.
5. Fluid is very consistent.
4. Probiotic to replenish the good bacteria VERY important for stomach flora and immunity !!!!
I don't claim to be a doctor by all means, she and I connected so well b/c she had been working with a TCM doctor and I am familiar with TCM principles which I combine with my raw food lifestyle. :)

Sounds good. I might try bentonite clay to gather up excess toxins and dead cells.
I am drinking juices made up of three of the following:carrots, celery, cabbage, cilanto, parsley. I also have one green smoothie a day : kale or collards or dandelion greens with carrots. I eat salads and lots of mushrooms as they feel more substantial to eat. I have almond milk daily. But I'm trying to keep my fats to a minimum (only almond milk) for a while as I am reading what people say about staying away from fats and getting rid of candida.
I need to set a time line on this as I will lose weight (and that actually is not my goal) and I want to be able to maintain myself on a raw diet. I know I have had candida most of my life and part of me doesn't believe I could actually get it out of my body!
Thanks for writing - this is helping me a lot.
